All Japan Pro Wrestling

Hello everyone.

All Japan Pro Wrestling is a Japanese pro wrestling promotion that began back on October 21, 1972.  Giant Baba created the promotion after leaving the Japanese Wrestling Association.  Today, the company is owned by Tsuyoki Fukuda.  Early as a fan, I would often get this promotion mixed up with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Their headquarters are in Yushima Bunkyou-ku Tokyo area.  Over the course of over 53 years, AJPW has had over 6900 shows.  Currently, they have six active championships that are contested.

The promotion's popular events are Champion Carnival, Real World Tag League and Pro Wrestling Love in Ryogoku.

This blogger has been told that in the first 20 years of the promotion, it had one of the best rosters of anyone worldwide.  I remembered seeing wrestling magazines of brutal matches that took place.  Unfortunately, there was the death of Giant Baba in 1999 and then a mass exodus of wrestlers a year later that started Pro Wrestling Noah.

However, it appears that AJPW is on the upswing, and that's a good thing.  In roughly one week, AJPW will be having their next show, Dynamite Series 2025 in Takahashi, northwest of Tokyo.
