Hello everyone.
Back in May 2019, World Wrestling Entertainment came up with a tertiary championship open to anyone—regardless of gender or WWE employment status—and carried the special rule that it could be defended "24/7", as in any time, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee was present. Because of this rule, the championship was available to all of WWE's brand divisions.
The title was unveiled on May 20th by legendary star, Mick Foley on Monday Night Raw. Titus O'Neill became the inaugural champion that night with the final champion being Nikki Cross. The title was "deactivated" on November 9, 2022 when Cross "dumped" the belt backstage following her match on Raw.
Around July 16, 2021 (if the translation is correct), SETUP Thailand founder, Pumi and the staff came up with a similar type championship known as the SETUP 24/7 title. Mick Foley (allegedly) was the original champion. Part of the reason for it, at the time, was that the world was going through the COVID pandemic. This was one way of keeping interest going while we were recovering. There was hardly live wrestling happening in the region at the time.
Around June 2022 when fans would begin flocking The Circus Studio in Bangkok once again, the SETUP 24/7 title was defended in shows. It's been defended in Thailand, Philippines and, I believe, in Japan.
Today, the title is in the hands of PUSO Wrestling's and RGT member, Jake De Leon. He earned the title as a result of what happened at SETUP Thailand's show, The Fallen Kingdom that took place on May 31st.
How he obtained the title? Personally, I wasn't there to see the show. Supposedly, the previous title holder, Kevin Weng, mentioned that the belt came up missing days before the event. Up until now, there hasn't been mention as to how members of RGT had it at the show and was given to Jake. It's not for this blogger to find out, only for this fan to report what's out there.
Regarding the 24/7 SETUP Title - Jake De Leon deserves this, especially after what happened last year when he was the MWF Champion for the second time when the promotion folded. Perhaps, certain bloggers ought to see, and know the facts, before spouting them out to their audiences. Jake was without a title, and numerous wrestlers, were without a promotion for a few weeks until PUSO Wrestling was formed!
I've followed his career since 2020 when this fan began studying and watching Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling on You Tube and the social media outlets.
Jake doesn't need my backing, but he definitely deserves this title. He deserves it just as much as anyone other than perhaps, "Pencil", who had it during the Covid pandemic. He has defended the belt successfully in the short time while back in the Philippines.
This blogger has the respect for ALL wrestlers in the Southeast Asia scene, and that includes RGT! Isaiah Valencia, Jake's opponent at the PUSO Wrestling Karera show on Sunday, has made great strides in the short time in the ring. I've, not only posted about it, but have told him this face to face. If he defeats Jake on Sunday at the Brawl Pit Bulusan, expect a post about his major win at the first possible opportunity. That is what a decent blogger does.
Just saying folks......
