Hello everyone.
Over the past couple of months, people who know that I follow pro wrestling have asked me one question constantly and continuously.
People who have read my blog and/or know that I watch sports entertainment mention that I don't bring up "violent scenes or actions in storylines" when doing a recap and/or results.
First off, this blogger tries and stays away from the "drama" (I guess) of what goes on in pro wrestling. Promoting and providing results is a big part of this blog. Sharing information on wrestlers in the various promotions covered is a necessity to this fan. It's not to get into their personal life but it is one focus. It is also to communicate to the wrestling fan what is going on. It is to do, what the media in an area, doesn't cover!
All of us must remember that pro wrestling over the years has evolved or changed from what it was going back to probably the 1930s in North America. Prior to 1930, according to stuff I've read, wrestling matches were nearly a total travesty to watch. Two hours would be the norm on who would pin the other!
When I began watching in 1968, there would be a wrestling ad in the previous Sunday's paper for a show on the following Saturday night. There would be results the following morning. Today, if you don't have the internet or any communication with a television, cell phone and/or newspaper, you are out of luck!
Over the years, I've seen everything from wrestlers running into ring posts to barbed wire fences to chair shots. Yet, when comparing this to a country western movie and a chair shot is used in a movie, the response I get is "well it's a movie!" When I tell friends that the WWE is sports entertainment, it goes right over their head.
"Violence" if you want to call it has been part of this for a long time. Yet, if a professional football player gets tackled, nothing gets said. Or how about a hockey player that gets checked into the boards. Nothing gets said there either!
All that this blogger wants to say is let's enjoy this era of pro wrestling right now! There are more passionate fans than ever. The wrestlers make every effort to make themselves better by staying and getting into better shape. The equipment is better than ever before. The venues do what they can to give the customers the best for their money!
Even if a promotion has a match that has "something violent to it," it will certainly be a test to this blogger to provide results, share the proper information and promote the next show whenever it is.
Let's enjoy what we have everyone. There are some countries in this world that don't have the enjoyment that countries and promotions I cover have! Thanks everyone and continue enjoying what is happening in the wrestling world.
