The Storyline

Hello everyone.

From watching my first wrestling show on television in 1968, pro wrestling is successful for it's storylines.  The San Francisco Bay Area would depend on a television station for this.  Every Friday night at 9pm, KTVU television would show 60 minutes of wrestling.  There would be four matches, four interviews, commercials, and chaos at times.  Storylines would develop in order for them to develop at a major show at the Cow Palace once every three to five weeks time.  That was how The Territory Era was.  There was no internet.  It was television, newspaper ads, and wrestling magazines.

Here it is 57 years later, in the New Era.  Doing a blog on Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling promotions, one promotion in Norway and one in Australia, it is slightly different but still effective.  Today, social media such as Facebook, Instagram, X, Discord, Twitch and You Tube are among the tools.  Streaming platforms have greatly helped as well.  The promotions I cover are independent so, like in North America, a television station will likely not cover an event.

Yet, storylines are every bit as effective today, if not better than when I first began watching.  Also, cutting a promo is an important factor to assist with the storyline.

In the last several months, each promotion that I've covered has had good storylines in their shows.  This blogger has seen the efforts of the promotion.  Because of this, and the improvement of wrestlers, shows are selling out constantly. It's good to see, especially when a publication like Pro Wrestling Illustrated talks about a promotion and/or wrestlers from time to time.

Lately, this blogger has checked out five promotions in particular.  SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling, Norges Wrestleforbund (Norway), Vietnam Pro Wrestling, Grapplemax (Singapore) and Filipino Pro Wrestling have had some interesting storylines among them.

That being said, please check out all of them, whatever country you live in.  Certainly, this blogger does.  The year 2025 has started out wild and unpredictable throughout the industry.  Wrestling fans would likely agree there.

Filipino Pro Wrestling Update

Hello everyone!

Things have been a little quiet for Filipino Pro Wrestling since last October's show.

The promotion has definitely been back in training for the 2025 year.  Soon, we will find out the date of their first show.

Recently, Kojio Akumu visited FPW as part of a wrestling seminar in the Metro Manila area.  The session went very well and many positives came out of it.

As some of you may know, this blogger saw FPW Champion, Jeff Cobb a couple of weekend's ago at the NJPW Strong event in San Jose.  This fan was disappointed that Cobb didn't bring the FPW title with him to the ring (I didn't see it).  Then, his match against El Phantasmo for the IGWP TV Title was a double count out.  The Bay Area is a large Filipino area and it would have been nice to see the FPW belt with him.  Oh well!

There have been a lot of storylines over the winter in FPW.  One of the hottest storylines right now is LegenDarius and the Sigma faction.  There could be a possible interview on the horizon.  Please stay tuned for the possibility!

Finally, the FPW Astig series (from 2023) can now be seen on You Tube.  Here is the link to click and is listed below.  Also, please subscribe!  Thank you.
