Hello everyone.
Roughly three years ago, this blogger posted on a future match that would take local pinoy wrestling to the next level.
The Manila Wrestling Federation had a show in December 2022 called Noche Buena. This fan didn't see the original Noche Buena four years earlier live when Robin Sane defeated Fabio Makisig for the original MWF Championship. But seeing it on You Tube was one of the reasons this fan started doing a Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling blog. The match was that good, and is still talked about today!
Four years later, an epic match between MWF Champion, Jake De Leon and Fabio Makisig at the PETA Theater Center definitely took wrestling to the next level. Makisig that night made one of the most memorable comebacks in pro wrestling history (Philippines, Southeast Asia and/or anywhere else) and won the coveted belt.
Fabio held the title a promotional record 357 days. He would defend it on six occasions (5-0-1) before being eliminated in a four on four elimination match at Noche Buena nearly one year later.
After the closing of MWF in May 2024, a new promotion, PUSO Wrestling got its start in June. In November of that year, Main Maxx would win the Pusong Pinoy Wrestling Championship in a tournament by defeating Aaron Liwanag in the finals. Maxx would go through three different competitors to win the inaugural title.
Main Maxx has held the PUSO Championship a total of 281 days as of this post and has defended the title four times. So, everyone can see that both Fabio Makisig and Main Maxx have defended the titles properly and well.
If you look at the stature of both wrestlers, Main Maxx does have a size and weight advantage. However, it is believed by fans that Fabio is quicker and more agile. Main Maxx has wrestled for 11 years while Fabio has, if not mistaken, for nine so there's really no difference there.
The major thing that is amazing is that Main Maxx and Fabio have never wrestled one-on-one singles before. Both wrestlers were in separate promotions prior to 2020. Though Main Maxx came over to MWF after the pandemic, neither he and Fabio wrestled each other at a show in singles competition.
Now, here we are three years and time has flown by. This blogger, is once again, typing on a future match that will, once again, take local pinoy wrestling to the next level!
PUSO Wrestling's show, Bakunawa, WILL BE a clash of mythical proportions! And once again, this blogger will not predict this, or any outcome of the show. However, what I do know is that both wrestlers will show up and have their "A" game! This fan saw that three years ago and, along with a loud Brawl Pit Bulusan crowd, we will see it once again!
Besides the Main Maxx-Fabio Makisig encounter, two other Championship Title matches will take place. Joey Rosas will face SETUP Thailand 24/7 title holder, Jake De Leon. It will be Joey's biggest test to date. Jake has defended the title several times and successfully since winning it back in Thailand several months back.
Though Joey earned the title shot through winning at basketball, chess and archery competitions, this is a wrestling match. And after seeing JDL's most recent promo, this fan would not be certain that I would want to share the same ring with him.
Ice Ribbon Japan's, Yappy and Ancham are the 67th and current holders of the Ice Ribbon International Tag Team Championship. They have held the belts for over 100 days as of this post and have successfully defended it on a couple of occasions.
They will be traveling to Brawl Pit to face the interesting combination of Joya and Chelsea Marie.
Both Joya and Chelsea are very capable as singles wrestlers and, in this blogger's mind, as a tag team. However, the question on everyone's minds is can the two ladies work together despite wrestling for two different stables? We will see on Sunday, September 14th!
Here are the other remaining matches on the show...
Robin Sane vs. Crystal vs. Ravena vs. Nigel San Jose in a 4-Way Moon Eater Match.
Jomar vs. Danny Zamora.
Super Friends vs. Otaki Alien.
Ken Cifer vs. Sage Matthews
AND
Bahay ng Liwanag will be in action!
The September 13-14 weekend kicks off with a Meet And Greet courtesy of Dexcon, PUSO Wrestling and numerous sponors. On Saturday, September 12, the Meet And Greet and other activities takes place at the Socal House in Circuit Makati beginning at 12pm. Please visit the Dexcon-DXCN Facebook page for more details.
