APAC Wrestling Only The Best Update #3

Hello everyone.

There is a match updated for APAC Wrestling's show, Only The Best.  The event will be taking place on Saturday, May 10th, WNZ Sports Arena, Puchong, beginning at 8:15pm.

There will be a tag team match featuring The Eurasian Dragon from Ring Of Rebirth-Singapore and Hendo Ramil against RORs, Nyc and Joe Louise.

This has not been mentioned anywhere, and this blogger is not afraid to share the following statement.  The last time The Eurasian Dragon and Hendo Ramil were to team up as a tag team last November, Hendo Ramil was a "no show."  Does Hendo have an issue with someone as talented and experienced as The Eurasian Dragon?

What ended up happening at the last APAC Wrestling show of the year, The Eurasian Dragon fulfilled his commitment and ended up wrestling in a 2-1 handicap match with him being without a partner.  Let's see what will happen this time.  Maybe, Hendo Ramil can explain to all of us why this happened.  He was certainly at the last show, and lost.

For tickets, and more information, please visit the APAC Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

Shaukat And Nor Phoenix Diana In America

Hello everyone.

APAC Wrestling's Shaukat and Nor "Phoenix" Diana have made their way to America, and in a major way.

Both wrestlers are in Texas at the Reality Of Wrestling (ROW) tapings.  ROW is an independent promotion based out of Houston.  The company was founded by WWE Hall Of Famer, Booker T in 2005 and was initially called Pro Wrestling Alliance.

As a few of you may know already, Shaukat was inspired by Booker T to start professional wrestling back in 2013.  Over the next 12 years, he would wrestle in Malaysia undoubtedly as the top wrestler in the country.  In 2020, Shaukat started APAC Wrestling and the company has been going very well since.  According to reports, this is the second time for Shaukat at a ROW taping.  He wrestled a couple of times in 2022.

For Nor "Phoenix" Diana, going to an ROW taping in America is a breakthrough and a major accomplishment.  She was the first hijabi woman pro wrestler in the world and the first Malaysian women's champion.

Her appearance at APAC Wrestling shows is an inspiration for women all over the world.  And her appearance in Texas will be another step for women who want to reach the squared circle.

Congratulations to Shaukat and to Nor "Phoenix" Diana on the latest accomplishments!

Grapplemax Pro Wrestling Singapore - Hotshot would make a couple of successful defenses of the Grapplemax Openweight Title since winning it in late 2023.

Dexcon (Philippines) - Dexcon had announced in December that they would sponsor their second show, WrestleStorm.  The show would eventually sell out and was a huge success!

Cross Promoting

Growing up with pro wrestling in the Territory Era in North America, there was something interesting that this blogger learned early on.

About two years after first watching wrestling on television, this blogger first came across a wrestling magazine known as The Wrestler.  Remember everyone, back then, there was no internet!

It was a shock to find out that there were actually three promotions in North America and not one!  I grew up in the National Wrestling Alliance territory and thinking it was the only one.

However, there were two other promotions in the American Wrestling Association (Midwest Region) and the World Wide Wrestling Federation (East Coast Region).  It would be extremely rare if a wrestler from one region back in 1968 would wrestle in another one.  The only exception I could remember early on was the WWWF's Bruno Sammartino doing a couple of shows against the NWA's Ray Stevens at the Daly City Cow Palace.

Things were very tight amongst the heads of the different groups back then.  Definitely, it was big business and up until the 1970s, one promotion would not "invade" another's territory.  The invasion began in 1969 when the American Wrestling Alliance invaded NWA territory with a show in the Los Angeles area (The Forum in Inglewood).  NWA was the territory back then with shows at the Olympic Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles.

Jumping forward a half century, in Southeast Asia, there are a few pro wrestling promotions throughout the various countries.  Unlike the days of The Territory Era in North America, pro wrestling in Southeast Asia is definitely a breath of fresh air!  The heads of the various promotions are far more receptive in a wrestler from one country visiting another.

This blogger has been following a recent pro wrestling tour of Japan involving Jake De Leon (PUSO Wrestling - Philippines), Shivam (SETUP - Thailand) along with Dr. Gore (SPW), Monomoth (SETUP), Chris Brookes and Masa Takanashi (SETUP, DDT Pro Wrestling, ChocoPro).  A couple of fans from abroad were able to attend the tour as well.

There were the Baka Gaijin and ChocoPro shows that were definitely memorable.  Then there was the legendary show at Korakuen Hall where many Japanese pro wrestling shows have taken place.  I believe the tour ends in Saitama before the wrestlers return to the respective countries.

Over the last few weeks, this blogger has been trying to keep up with several wrestlers.  While I was in the Philippines, Filipino Pro Wrestling's, Chino Guinto took part in a Vietnam Pro Wrestling show at the VAIB Studio.  Before this, Jake De Leon (PUSO Wrestling) and Mike Madrigal (Filipino Pro Wrestling) traveled to Malaysia for an APAC Wrestling show.  The Eurasian Dragon and a couple of other wrestlers from Ring Of Rebirth Singapore wrestled in the show as well.

Earlier in the year, Dexcon Philippines promoted a couple of shows with Zack Sabre Jr. (NJPW), Chris Brookes and Masa Takanashi (SETUP, DDT, ChocoPro) appearing.

In about two weeks, September 14th, the Philippines own, Crystal, will be appearing at Middle Kingdom Wrestling's Championship Supercard show in Shanghai.  She will be taking on Yuki Kamifuku for the SPW Queen Of Asia Championship.

The point this blogger is making is that the cross promotion of wrestling talent in Southeast Asia is a very healthy one for pro wrestling in the region. It spurs interest, grows the industry and helps the economy.  Friendships are strengthened as well.

There is no question in this wrestling fan's mind that the Japan visit was a success!  From what was posted in Social Media, all of the wrestlers had a great time and were receptive positively by the fans who attended.  Definitely, there are exciting times ahead for sports entertainment in the region.

APAC Wrestlelegion Update #4

There has been an added match for APAC Wrestlegion for Saturday night.  This blogger found out about this a couple of hours ago.  Slow response by the promotion, I guess.

The Eurasian Dragon from ROR Wrestling in Singapore will team up with Hendo Ramli.  They will take on the team of Joe Louise and K.A.E in a tag team match.

APAC Wrestlelegion will be this evening at the WNZ Arena, Spacerubix, Puchong.

For more information, please visit the APAC Wrestling Facebook page regarding tickets, if any available.  As always with any wrestling show, the card is subject to change.

APAC Wrestlelegion Update #3

Hello everyone!

APAC Wrestling's next show, Wrestlelegion, will take place on Saturday, July 20th.  The venue is the WNZ Arena, Spacerubix, Puchong beginning at 8pm.

There has been one enormous match added to the show that this blogger just learned.

Filipino Pro Wrestling Champion, Mike Madrigal will face NYC from Ring Of Rebirth (Singapore) and local stars, Big Eddie Emil and Mick Mercer in a four way match for the FPW Championship.  These type of matches always reduce the champion's odds.  However, I would never count out a champion, especially one of Mike Madrigal's caliber!

For more information, and if any tickets remain, please visit the APAC Wrestling page on Facebook.

All the best to everyone appearing at the show on Saturday.  Have a good weekend everyone!
