FPW Sunday Show Another Success!

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to Filipino Pro Wrestling on another great show, Secret Show At The Secret Place 3, last Sunday in Quezon City.

On a weekend where there was a lot of wrestling in Metro Manila, FPW provided the fans with entertainment, excitement and wrestling per the messages this fan has received.  The 2F Kowloon House appeared to be sold out and certainly, it had the excitement and enthusiasm that pro wrestling in PH and throughout the Southeast Asia region is experiencing.

What's next?  Well, next month, FPW will return with FPW Astig at the Baked House in Makati City.  The date is Sunday, July 13th at 2pm.  If you haven't read the most recent post, the FPW Wrestling Championship has been vacated by Jeff Cobb.  Cobb is now at WWE and under another name.

Right now, the match for the coveted belt has not been named yet.  However, Quatro is definitely the number one contender and, in this fan's opinion, is one of the wrestlers that deserves to be in this match.  From videos, he looks as good as ever in the ring.

For tickets and for more information, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

FPW March Astig Show Update #3

Hello everyone.

Filipino Pro Wrestling's next show, FPW Astig, will take place on Sunday, March 23rd at 2pm at the Baked Studios in Makati City.

There have been a couple of announcements by FPW since the last post a couple of days ago.  Here are the mentions.

The Yolo Twins have issued an open challenge to any tag team, I'm taking it, in FPW.  It's been mentioned to this blogger that SIGMA's AB3, Jason Rex and LegenDarius, may not be available because they are busy that afternoon and evening.  However, one never knows in this era of professional wrestling what might happen!

Also, Quatro will be in action against an opponent yet to be named.  Quatro is currently the number one contender for the FPW Title that is currently held by Jeff Cobb.

For tickets, and more information, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

Filipino Pro Wrestling Pro Rankings Follow Up

Hello everyone.

Wanted to update those who read my last post on the FPW Power Rankings.  There has been some input regarding what appears to be the first for Filipino Pro Wrestling.

This blogger receives a magazine about every eight weeks known as Pro Wrestling Illustrated.  Near the back of the program, PWI lists in what they believe is their top ten contending wrestlers to a promotion.  I believe there are a group of people associated with the magazine who rates them.  Most of the time, since this fan watches WWE and AEW, the ratings are really bunk!  However, that is just my opinion.

Honestly, the other day, I saw the Power Ratings for the first time.  This may be a first for a Southeast Asian wrestling promotion.  However, there will always be questions.  The first one is who is doing the selections?

We do know that Jeff Cobb is the FPW Champion.  He did defeat Mike Madrigal who held the title since its inception or 547 days!

Normally, a wrestler who lost a title, gets a return match for the title.  That is a general consensus in the pro wrestling world.  Normally, that would mean that Mike Madrigal would be the number one contender.

However, Quatro is listed as number one on the power rankings.  This blogger has heard from various fans that he was "hand picked" to be number one!  All this fan can say is that in 2024, Quatro was 4-1 (including tag matches).  If a won-loss record is only determined, Quatro may have an argument in being at the top of the list.

Mike Madrigal was 3-2 overall including tag matches.  However, one of the losses was the defeat to Jeff Cobb of New Japan Pro Wrestling.  Mike has a couple of arguments.  One, Mike did not lose a singles match to an FPW wrestler.  Two, a championship defeat normally means a return match for the title whenever the title match takes place again!

Chino Guinto didn't lose an FPW match in 2024.  He felt that he needed to step up his game.  He was 5-0 including winning a Triple Threat Match to close the year.  Chino may have an argument regarding who's the number one contender.

Robynn, in this blogger's opinion, has the best argument.  Early last April, she was scheduled to face Mike Madrigal for the FPW Championship.  Unfortunately, she injured her knee and the match was off.  Mike mentioned that she would get a title shot at the earliest opportunity.  Robynn is back, and better than ever according to sources.

Cali Nueva ranks number five.  According to sources, his record is 2-3 including tag matches.  I'm not sure what other wrestlers such as Duke Ortega, Ralph Imabayashi and others have done but there could be an argument here as well.

All this blogger knows is this.........I'm glad that I didn't come up with the power rankings.  However, this blogger does have an idea how to resolve, who may or may not be, the number one contender for the title held by Jeff Cobb.  The upcoming Astig show is just over one month away on Sunday, March 23rd.

For tickets, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

FPW Secret Show At The Secret Update #1

Hello everyone!

Since the last post about FPW's Secret Show, there have been, not one match, but two matches added for the show!  The blogger loves what he' s seeing!

The first match features the great LegenDarius going up against Cali Nueva.  This IS the Main Event of the program.

LegenDarius will make his singles debut AND in a main eventer!  This blogger has only viewed clips of him since his tag team win with Jason Rex last October!  The group SIGMA has done very well since the formation last year!  Along with their newest member, AB3, SIGMA is predicted by experts to make a lot of waves at FPW shows in 2025!

Cali Nueva has gone to singles matches from tag matches  of late.  Ranked number five in the latest FPW Power Rankings, he lost to Quatro in a Triple Threat Match at the October show last year.  So, it will be interesting whether or not he can get back into the win column.

The second match announced is AB3 (Alexander Belmonte III) against Sam Baltazar in singles action.  AB3, as mentioned earlier, is the latest member of SIGMA.  Technically, he was on the losing end of a tag match last October against LegenDarius and Jason Rex.  It was at the end of the match when AB3 joined forces with SIGMA in a surprise development.

Sam Baltazar is someone I've seem live once and that was back in August 2023.  His last match was a good one last September against Duke Ortega, a top talent in FPW.  Mr. High Altitude was definitely flying in the two matches mentioned and is capable in doing it again!

This blogger didn't mention this in the last post but this is FPW's first ever dojo show.  Once again, the show location is 2F Kowloon House, Matalino Street in Quezon City.  Time is 2pm.  Ticket price IS pay-what-you-can.  For more information, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling AND Filipino Pro Wrestling Official Facebook pages!  Thank you.

Filipino Pro Wrestling Power Ratings

Hello everyone.

Filipino Pro Wrestling announced a few hours ago, what appears to be their first FPW Power Ratings.  This is something similar to what Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine does once each issue.

Since this blogger has not been to an FPW show since August 2023, and has talked with various fans who have been to FPW shows, FPW appears to have this correct.  Jeff Cobb, the FPW Champion, should be automatically number one.  If my math is correct, Quatro was 4-1 overall (including tag matches) while Mike Madrigal was 3-2 overall (including tag matches).  Some people may feel that Mike should be number two because he lost to someone outside the promotion.  This fan is mixed on this issue.

Chino Guinto, Robynn and Cali Nueva round out the top five contenders for the title.  Duke Ortega, in my mind, should be considered in the top five as well.  Again, this is a judgment call.

One day, and hopefully the roster will get bigger, this blogger would like to see The Yolo Twins mentioned more.  They are a great team with great chemistry.  Seeing them back in 2023, they are the premier tag team in all of Southeast Asia!  Will write more about this team in the weeks to come!

Filipino Pro Wrestling Future

By now, the fans that follow Filipino Pro Wrestling know that the promotion just completed its second season in the Philippines.  The final show had a couple of memorable moments.

Jeff Cobb, currently wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling, defeated Mike Madrigal for the FPW Championship.  Mike held the prestigious title for 547 days, quite a stint in today's world of pro wrestling.  Right now, the question on fans' minds is if Jeff Cobb will return to the Philippines and defend the belt?  Definitely, we won't know until next year at the earliest.

The roster has become stronger with the likes of Thiago and Jeffrey.  Along with the main roster with the likes of Quatro, Duke Ortega, Ralph Imabayashi, The Yolo Twins, Jan Evander, Chino Guinto and others, FPW looks strong going into 2025.

Also, on another note, the stable of Jason Rex and his mentor, LegenDarius, have a third member in the fold in AB3.  Though this blogger wasn't there for the October show, I've seen enough reels and comments to know that he's part of the faction.  From what people have said, factions or stables, the storylines appear to have a fresh approach.  It will be interesting to see what next year will provide with the trio, and perhaps additions!

For those that may not know, Robynn, one of my favorites will be returning to the ring.  It will be a very interesting situation as she will be appearing at PUSO Wrestling's final show in a Pinay Gauntlet match.  This is a good and healthy thing, in my opinion, for the Pinoy/Pinay wrestling industry.  This blogger knows that it's none of his business what goes on behind the scenes.  However, it's good that FPW and PUSO Wrestling are cooperating on this.  Pinay wrestling has improved tremendously over the past year in the country.  Having Robynn in the November 30th match will add to what is already a quality match.

Finally, Season Two of FPW Astig (July 2023 -  forward) is now showing on You Tube.  Please view and subscribe to Filipino Pro Wrestling on their page.  Thank you.

FPW Astig April Show Recap

Hello everyone!

Last Sunday's Filipino Pro Wrestling show, FPW Astig was definitely entertaining according to sources who have shared their enjoyment with this blogger.  A near capacity crowd saw exciting action at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater.

ABS-CBN News was there for the action and actually posted some results.  Here they are..

Mike Madrigal d. Thiago and Jan Evander to retain the FPW Championship.

Quatro and The YOLO Twins d. Cali Nueva, Evan Carleaux and James IDOL Martinez.

Duke Ortega d. Ralph Imabayashi.

Chino Guinto d. AB3.

Jeffrey d. Dax Xaviera.

I believe there was one other match.  If anyone has that, please message me and I'll add it here.

This blogger has seen some post show footage as well as some info from fans and ABS-CBN.

First off, hats off to the FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal.  I'm not posting this in a biased way.  It was cool that the champion offered Robynn, who was injured prior to the event, a title shot when she recovers and returns to the ring.

Being thousands of miles away, this fan realizes that, according to ABS-CBN, Red Ollero is the owner of FPW, and is the boss!

My question to those reading this is why did Red confront Mike while he was talking with Robynn?  Also, why did he get involved in the three way match with Thiago and Jan Evander?  Red's statement was "no comment" on the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling page on Facebook.

Honestly, this makes for a good storyline going forward.

If anyone would like to comment, please feel free to do so on the blog or on Facebook messenger.

As soon as there is an announcement on the next show, I'll post it.  Thank you.

FPW Pro Wrestling Academy

Recently, this blogger was, once again, asked why he never got into professional wrestling?  In America where I live, sports entertainment has never been more popular.  Each day (except Sunday), pro wrestling is on at least two hours per show during the evening hours.  This fan certainly cannot get enough of it!

The recent visits to the Philippines have shown that pro wrestling is popular as well.  As of right now, three wrestling promotions in the country will be having shows over the next six to seven weeks.  All over Southeast Asia, wrestling shows are selling out big time!

Here is the answer to the initial question at the beginning of the post.  Being skinny like this blogger is, there ended up being another direction.  My first sport in high school was wrestling for the school.  I did it for one year and it was fun.  Sometimes, I won and sometimes I didn't.  The experience was great though.

However, I ended up participating in another sport in high school.....track and field.  It's something that I still do today.  When healthy, getting a training run in feels good.

However, following pro wrestling as a fan, and now as a blogger, was. and still is, an important thing.  I began watching on television in 1968 and still watch it on TV and live today!  Today, pro wrestling is better than ever!

The recent article by ABS-CBN News in the Philippines (above photo courtesy of ABS-CBN) needs to be recognized.  FPW Pro Wrestling Academy reopened on March 3rd.  The promotion has had three Academy batches now going back to late 2022 when the promotion began.  The current one has trimmed down to 12 aspirants.

The training is led by FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal with pro wrestlers, Cali Nueva, Quatro, James "Idol" Martinez and Duke Ortega serving as coaches.

I know one aspirant well in Darius, and in the latest group with Naj.  This blogger believes they have what it takes to make the main roster.  They have a "never give up" attitude and both have followed the sport for a few years now.  Possibly by the time I see an FPW show again this summer, maybe they will both be in one of the matches!

Though this post may have focused on the FPW Pro Wrestling Factory, other promotions in Southeast Asia are focusing as well.  The future of the industry is important and right now, it has never looked brighter.

Over the previous few weeks, the Manila Wrestling Federation Factory with MWF Pinoy Wrestling Champion, Jake De Leon, had a factory session at the Brawl Pit Bulusan.

This was the same with Malaysia Pro Wrestling, Ring Of Rebirth Singapore, Grapplemax Pro Wrestling Singapore, and with Pro Wrestling Society (PWS Korea).  All the promotions here see the vision of growth and  wanting to be better.

It is important for this fan to, also note, that women are needed in sports entertainment right now.  Hopefully, we will see an increase of talent in the near future!

All the best to Raj, Darius and those who are fulfilling their dreams everywhere.  This blogger and fan is in your corner always.

Filipino Pro Wrestling Update #2

A third and fourth match has been made for Filipino Pro Wrestling's show, FPW: Astig.  The event will take place on Sunday, February 11th.  The venue
is the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater, Circuit Makati, beginning at 2pm.

The first one is a return tag team match that will feature Cali Nueva and Evan Carleaux against the Yolo Twins.

I've seen both teams and all four wrestlers last August at the final FPW show of the year.  The Yolo Twins have been a tag team for several years now and they are one great tag team.  Their chemistry is as good as any tag team I've seen.

However, Evan Carleaux and Cali Nueva can rise to the occasion from what was witnessed last August.  Though the Yolo Twins won the match, the fans could sense that their opposition might face them again sometime in 2024!  Well, that time is February 11th.

The other match that's been made is also a rematch from 2023.  Quatro, making his return to the ring will take on James "Idol" Martinez in a singles match.

I haven't seen Quatro live in the ring but seeing him on You Tube, he's very capable of holding the FPW Championship.  The matches he had in PWR were classics and I still watch them on occasion.

James "Idol" Martinez is still looking for his first win in FPW.  Seeing him last August when he faced Mharckie, this fan thought that he was going to triumph.  The match ended up a draw.  Could this be Martinez's time to come up with an upset victory?

Speaking of Mharckie, hopefully he's recovering from an accident late last year.  Hopefully, he will be back sometime in 2024.

Tickets, to my knowledge are still available.  Up until January 31st, tickets are still on a discounted rate.  Please check the ticket2me.net website on availability and/or check the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling page for more information.  Thank you.

FPW Astig's Next Show!

Filipino Pro Wrestling and FPW Astig will be returning next month!

The show will take place on Sunday, February 11th at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati.  Time is TBD (probably 2pm).

There was a mention on whom FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal should wrestle on the upcoming show.

Definitely, this blogger is not a matchmaker.  Mike did defeat Ralph Imabayashi and Cali Nueva in the finals of a tournament last year to win the belt.

He defended it successfully against Duke Ortega in a banger of a match that I saw live last August.

Looking back at the FPW:Astig series, he wrestled nearly everyone on the roster and defeated everyone.

Perhaps they could run through the series again starting with Mharckie.  However, though I wasn't at any of the tapings, he hadn't faced the likes of Quatro and Dax Xaviera per the 11 week series in which the fans saw on You Tube.

However, this fan knows that Mike Madrigal will be ready. no matter the opponent.  He and the FPW locker room have had a long enough off season to see how the 2024 season will be like.

This fan is definitely looking forward to an exciting year.  Am sure the fans cannot wait to watch the action at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater at Circuit Makati.  Tickets are now available on the ticket 2 me website.  However, please check the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling for more information.
