NWF Trouble In Tiger City Match Lined Up

Hello everyone.

Norges Wrestlingforbund's (Norwegian Wrestling Federation) next show, Trouble in Tiger City is an afternoon and evening show scheduled for March 1st.  The afternoon show begins at 3pm while the evening version begins at 8pm.  The shows are at the Sagene Festival Hotel in Oslo.

The afternoon encounter has one match signed.  Kym of the tag team group Inferno will take on Adrian Storm, one half of the NWF Tag Team Champion - Headhunters in a singles match.  This should be an interesting and exciting one for both competitors.  The two will face off for the first time since the New Year's Uprising show.  The Headhunters won the tag team belts over Inferno that night, but not without controversy, and the help of Judge Jonas.

For more information, including tickets, please visit the Norges Wrestlingforbund Facebook page.  Thank you.

A Well Deserved Promotion

Hello everyone!

Back last September, this blogger conducted an interview with a passionate wrestling fan while in the Philippines.  Miguel Navarro is knowledgeable on the local as well as international scene when it comes to the squared circle. He has a love for a promotion known as World Underground Wrestling - Philippines.  WUW-PH began in 2019 with shows at the Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City.

Besides his passion, Miguel has a podcast titled Ready To Rambol that he shares with the fans.  This fan's interview with Miguel can be read by clicking here: https://pwtsea.blogspot.com/2024/09/interview-15-miguel-navarro.html

A few hours ago, it was announced that Miguel, a WUW Philippines correspondent, is now the NEW World Underground Wrestling - Philippines Matchmaker!  Congratulations on a well deserved promotion!  Miguel, am certain, will have a few surprises for the Pinoy Wrestling fans in the days and weeks ahead.

Since being on the topic of World Underground Wrestling - Philippines, their next show, WUW Master Clash, will take place on Saturday, April 5th at the Brawl Pit Bulusan.  Please visit the World Underground Wrestling Philippines - WUW Philippines Facebook page for more information.  Thank you.

VPW Spring Bash Update #5

As many of you know, the legendary great, Ric Flair, has won 16 recognized major championships in his illustrious career.  Undoubtedly, he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest wrestler of our generation.  Since he has retired (or has he!), that means that he lost each of the 16 championships.

Last night, a friend of mine sent me a clip of one of my all time favorite tag teams in Southeast Asia.  They are Vung Tau Xperience or VTX for short.  The team of Phong Tran and Damien Wolfe are very well known in Vietnam Pro Wrestling history.

As of this post, VTX has not been signed for a tag team match.  However, that could very well change soon as they say!  The following is a little history of the team from Vung Tau.

VTX is a three time VPW Tag Team Champion.  They would win the inaugural title at an event along with Middle Kingdom Wrestling.  The event was called Dragon Fire that was held on a mat format at the GS Dance Studio in Ho Chi Minh City.

in 2020, VTX would lose to An D and Air Tiger in a surprise finish.  In January 2022, VTX would reclaim the belts in a two on one handicap against An D. This was a decision that VPW made.  It is also a mystery as to why Air Tiger is no longer with the company.

VTX would hold on to the belts until July before losing to The Mystic Warriors in a return encounter from three years ago.  The difference this time was the match was now in a ring format which VPW has today.

Phong Tran and Damien Wolfe would go their separate ways and would wrestle in singles competition.  In August, Damien would win the number one opportunity for the VPW Openweight Title that was held by Le Tyler.  It was a Rooster Royal Rumble that had 15 participants.

One month later, Phong Tran would win the VPW Openweight Title only to lose it minutes later.  Damien Wolfe would cash in on his opportunity from August.  He would defend the title successfully several times.

The two wresters, now rivals, would battle at times throughout the next couple of years, mostly in tag team competition.  Also, the VPW Tag Team Championship was going through several title changes.

In June 2024, VTX would reunite to the surprise of the fans in attendance.  They would win the VPW Tag Team belts in a three way match against Venomshank and The Classic Night.  The team has successfully defended the titles three times since.

In the video clip, it appeared that Vung Tau Xperience was "pretty confident" that they could defend the titles with success.  They talked about carrying the company and also ruling the "multiverse."

There are definitely good tag teams in VPW.  You have Vortex Rebellion that can create havoc on anyone right now.  Venomshank may have something to say about this.  If these two want to reunite again, there is the Saigon Hunters (Rocky Huynh and Sid Nguyen).  Certainly, there are teams outside Vietnam who have seen the video.

The team is a three time champion.  For that to happen, one had to lose the title twice!

All that can be said is this......"be careful what you wish for!"
