SETUP Thailand EP21 Double Cross Results

Hello everyone.

Here are the results from SETUP Thailand's show, EP21 Double Cross.  The show took place this past Saturday night, March 22nd at The Circus Studio.  Normally, I don't do a recap unless this blogger was at the event.  However, this recap is important in various ways.

The show began with a tribute to Masa Takanashi by playing his intro song.  He took part in SETUP's very first show back in January 2020 and is a very familiar face to the fans in Thailand and throughout all of Asia.

Takanashi suffered an unfortunate neck injury a few days ago at a show in Japan.  All of us who have read about, or know him, we're thinking, praying, and are hoping for the best.  Our thought and prayers are with him at this time.

On to the show, this blogger heard, read and saw some clips.  It was wild to say the least.  A loud and boisterous crowd of 141 fans saw some great action.   The second, third and fourth matches were a part of the Uprising Series which will give everyone some much needed experience.

The final three matches had some great action and also, very interesting endings.  None of the SETUP Titles changed hands, but there were interesting developments that happened.  This blogger wasn't there, but word does get back, especially from about 12,800 kilometers away...

There was a chair shot that ended one match.

There was a referee, for some reason, that stopped a count in a tag match.  Heard some rumor going around that the referee was paid.

And then there was some interference from a wrestler who wasn't supposed to be at ringside.  Not only that, he aligned with another wrestler after the match to become a group called the Real Global Threat.  Am hearing that RGT want to take over the local wrestling industry.

This fan, while doing this post is supposed to be unbiased here.  However, thanks to this blogger's regional wrestling hero, JDL, he stopped RGT before any further damage was done.  This blogger hears that our regional wrestling hero will team up with Jonathan Johnson and have challenged RGT to a match scheduled this coming May.

AND.......if some things can be worked out back in America, this blogger WILL be visiting Thailand AND will be at the May show!  I want to thank several fans who shared some insights with the show as well as sharing pics, reels and more.  Also, thank you to SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling, to Pumi, the staff, and to all the wrestlers and fans involved.  It makes doing this post a whole lot easier to do.

Here are the results...

Anont Alonzo d. "Gatekeeper" Hyde in an open challenge.

Kevin Weng d. Kru Pol.

Flame Drake and Gunn wrestled to a 10 minute time limit draw.

Pondhub & Blick Drewz d. Chalee & Admin Oak.

Shivam d. Jake De Leon in the #1 contender's qualifying match for the IWA Japan World Heavyweight Title.  Shivam will face Jonathan Johnson and Mikey Wild in the tournament final.

Matcha d. Alexis Lee and is the #1 contender for the SETUP All Asia Women's Title.

The Good Deal d. Jack N' Cheese and remain the IWA SETUP World Tag Team Champions.  They successfully defended it for the fourth time.

SETUP Thailand Double Cross Show Update #8

Hello everyone.  This post is a little long, but very important.  Please read.  Thanks.

In a stunning development, there has been one more match added for the SETUP Thailand EP21 show scheduled for March 22nd at The Circus Studio.

In an IWA Japan World Championship #1 Contender Tournament Qualifying Match, PUSO Wrestling and Mr. Philippine Wrestling's, Jake De Leon will take on the MYPW SEA Champion, Shivam.  This match is a major one for both competitors in their wrestling careers!

Jake De Leon just recently came off a huge tag team match in the Philippines where he teamed up with legendary Japanese wrestler, Yoshi Tatsu at the Dexcon show.  Their team won a successful match this last weekend.

Shivam is the MYPW SEA Champion and won the title last year at the IWA SETUP 30th Anniversary show at The Circus Studio.

Both JDL and Shivam have seen each other before, at least twice over the past year.  The latest was a four way match in Singapore when both wrestlers were wrestling for the SPW SEA Title that is currently held by Da Butcherman with SPW.  This match. everyone, is a main eventer anywhere in Southeast Asia.  Fans in Thailand should be really excited about this one!

Note**  The winner of this match will face Jonathan Johnson and Mikey Wild in a Three Way match sometime later this year.

Here is the rest of the lineup for the show.

Kru Pol vs. Kevin Weng in a Uprising Series Block A Match.

Flame Drake vs. Gunn in a Uprising Series Block B Match.

Jack N' Cheese (BGJ and CBK) vs. The Good Deal (Anont Alonzo and Mr. Suchart) (C) for the IWA SETUP World Tag Team Championship.

Andruew Tang (C) vs. Jonathan Johnson for the SETUP Thailand Openweight Championship.  Shivam has been banned from ringside.

Matcha vs. Alexis Lee with the winner receiving a future title shot for the SETUP All Asia Championship.

Jake De Leon vs TBD in the SETUP World Championship Tournament.

Tickets are still available for the show this Saturday.  Please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand Double Cross Update #7

Hello everyone.

There have been several developments since last posting regarding the SETUP Thailand Double Cross show.  The event takes place on Saturday, March 23rd at The Circus Studio beginning at 6:30pm.

First off, the voice of Singapore Pro Wrestling, Darren Chua, will be at this coming Saturday's show in one of the featured matches.  Darren is one of this blogger's favorite wrestling voices in all of Southeast Asia.

Second......Jonathan Johnson took part in a ChocoPro show this past weekend in Japan.  He teamed up with Masa Takanashi in a tag match against Chris Brookes and Munetatsu Nakamura.  This blogger is always amazed at the small area the wrestlers perform in.  However, the show was enjoyable.  Please check out the following link for the show.

Also, in the past few days, Mr. Suchart wrestled Kru Pol on a television show that was televised in Bangkok.  Any time there is something televised live for people to see, that is great for any promotion.  Here is the link regarding the match.  The show is about 65 minutes long (the wrestling match is around 30 minutes into the segment).

Finally, I'm not sure whether to report this or not since it hasn't yet been posted on the SETUP Thailand Facebook page.

However, there is a new SETUP Thailand All Asia Women's Champion.  Raku defeated Pom Harajuku at the TJPW Grand Princess 25 on Sunday at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.  I believe that Raku will face the winner of the Alexis Lee-Matcha match that is this coming Saturday.  That will happen at a future date (edited).  Since there will be an update or two before Saturday, we will let you know the opponent in the future.

Thanks again everyone for reading the long post.  Tickets are still available.  Please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page for more info.
