Real Global Threat

The date was May 27, 1996.  This wrestling fan and hundreds of thousands watching had no idea what was to happen on World Championship Wrestling's, Monday Night Nitro show.

The New World Order, a stable (group) was formed by wrestlers, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.  They were two wrestlers who had their finals matches with WWE over a week before.  The group was active for roughly four years.  Wrestlers such as Hollywood Hulk Hogan, "Macho Man Randy Savage and a few others were with the group off and on during the era.

There is a new phenomenon that is going on in Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling right now.

RGT or Real Global Threat is definitely making noise in the world of Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling.  As of this post, it's members are Shivam (SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling), Andruew Tang (Singapore Pro Wrestling), Emman Azman (Malaysia Pro Wrestling) and Jake De Leon (PUSO Wrestling - Philippines).

All four wrestlers have tons of experience in the ring and are the top wrestlers of their respective countries.  All four have won championships.

For those who aren't aware or don't know what I'm talking about, the formation of the stable likely began last November in Singapore.

There would be the interference of a title match between, then, SETUP Thailand Champion, Jonathan Johnson and Andruew Tang.  Shivam, who wanted to wrestle that night, and SETUP management not giving him a match, interferred.  It led to Andruew Tang winning the title.

Fast forward to March.  There would be a return match and Tang would retain the title.  Following the match, there would be an announcement that Shivam and Andruew Tang would join forces with a formation of the Real Global Threat.  The two would double team Johnson following the match until Jake DeLeon from PUSO Wrestling - Philippines would come to the rescue.

In May, there would be an eventual six man tag match between Team SETUP (Jonathan Johnson, Jake De Leon and a third partner) vs. Team RGT (Shivam, Andruew Tang and a third partner).

Zach Sabre Jr., a well known international wrestler who wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling officially becomes the third man for Team SETUP.

The third man for Team RGT is an interesting one.

The night before the SETUP Thailand show, there was a Singapore Pro Wrestling show.  Shivam and Andruew Tang teamed in a tag match against Emman Azman from Malaysia and Hong Kong's Ho Ho Lun.  Following the match, Azman turned on his tag partner.  Both Shivam and Tang came back to the ring.  Eventually, Azman accepted the RGT shirt and the three left the ring together.

Fast forward to the next evening in Thailand.  Towards the end of the six man tag match, Shivam appeared to be in trouble with Jonathan Johnson ready to finish him.  All of the sudden, Johnson turned to his left and Jake De Leon hit him with a superkick that put him down.  Eventually, both Tang and Shivam finish Jonathan off with their signature moves.

Following the match, Jake De Leon, not only accepts the famous RGT shirt, but is now the SETUP 24/7 Champion.  He has held the belt before.

It is interesting what will happen with RGT going forward.  Certainly, there are a few wrestling promotions in Southeast Asia.  This fan knows that Vietnam hasn't been visited by the group at this time.  Could you see someone like Ares (for instance) joining the group?

One thing for certain.  Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling is having a great year in 2025.  With the addition of Real Global Threat, things have just got started!

Their motto.......We don’t take part, we take over!

SETUP EP22 : The Fallen Kingdom Update #1

Hello everyone.  Sorry to be away from blogging due to Easter and various other matters.  Will catch everyone up in what's happening at SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling.

SETUP's next show, EP22: The Fallen Kingdom will take place on Saturday, May 31st at The Circus Studio beginning at 6:30pm.  Here are several matches and some information involving the show.

The winner of the Raku / Nor "Phoenix" Diana match on May 5th will take on Matcha.  This will be for the SETUP All Asia Women's Championship!

Zack Sabre Jr. of NJPW will wrestle at the May 31st show.  His opponent will be announced as soon as this coming weekend.

Also, it has been announced that Terry Diesel, long time wrestler who is taking a break from wrestling, has reached an agreement to be the General Manager and matchmaker.  Congratulations to Terry.

It's been announced that Jeney will appear at The Fallen Kingdom against an opponent yet to be named.

Last, but certainly not least, Real Global Threat's Shivam and Andruew Tang will face Jonathan Johnson and Jake De Leon in a tag team match.  This blogger has been told that RGT is not a faction but a "movement."  In the coming days and weeks, the world of pro wrestling in Southeast Asia may know more about this "movement."

For tickets and more information, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

MYPW New Breed 3 Update #2

Hello everyone.

There has been an added match for Malaysia Pro Wrestling's show, New Breed 3.  The event will take place on Saturday, May 10th at the KuAsh Theater beginning at 6pm.

Shivam, from SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling, and the current MYPW Southeast Asia Championship, will defend the title in a Triple Threat Match.  His opponents will be his stable mate of Real Global Threat, Andruew Tang of SPW and Emman Azman, returning from a successful stint in Australia for the last several years.  This match is a main event anywhere throughout Southeast Asia.

For tickets, and more information, please visit the Malaysia Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

Dexcon Dakila Update #2

Hello everyone.

Several matches have been added to the Dexcon Dakila show scheduled for Sunday, May 18th.  The show will be at the Brawl Pit Bulusan beginning at 6:00pm.  Linus and everyone at Dexcon are providing arguably the biggest wrestling show in Pinoy wrestling history.

There will be a Triple Threat Match for the Pusong Pinoy Wrestling Championship.  The champion, Main Maxx, will undoubtedly face his biggest challenge as he will face Shivam from SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling and Miles Karu from Malaysia Pro Wrestling.

Shivam is currently the MYPW Southeast Asia Champion while Miles Karu in one half of the SPW Southeast Asia Tag Team Champions with The Wonderboy.  Either wrestler would like to go back to their country with a second belt around their waist.  Main Maxx would certainly want to keep the title where it is, in the Philippines.

In a singles match, St. John Martin will face Robin Sane which will be a battle of strength versus speed.

And in an International Dream Match, Nigel San Jose will take on Emman Azman, returning to Southeast Asia from Australia.

According to the Dexcon - DXCN Facebook page, last minute tickets will be on sale until 8pm tonight!  Please don't miss out.

SPW Mayhem Update #2

Hello everyone.

There have been a couple of matches added to the SPW Mayhem show scheduled for Friday, May 30th at the Foo Chow Building in Singapore.

Alexis Lee will be taking on the SPW Queen Of Asia Champion, Yuki Kamifuku for the title.  This match has one added stipulation.  If Alexis Lee loses, she WILL retire!  A victory will mean that she will be the first two time champion in the belt's history.

In the other added match, the team of Ho Ho Lun and Emman Azman will team up for the very first time.  Their opponents will be The Statement Andruew Tang and Shivam from SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling.

Going back to the last SETUP show in Thailand in March, Shivam interfered in a match between Andruew Tang and Jonathan Johnson for the SETUP Openweight Championship.  Because of the interference, Tang retained the title.

Following the match, The Statement and Shivam, former rivals, would form an alliance known as Real Global Threat. Their intentions are a takeover of Southeast Asia wrestling.  Will that actually happen?

For tickets and more information, please visit the SPW Facebook page.  Thank you.

24 March 2025

Real Global Threat

(This blogger may be changing the pic soon)

Hello everyone.

Pro wrestling has had its share of factions, stables and alliances over the years.  When one least expects it, one comes along out of the blue, and is surprising.

This blogger remembers a group back in May 1996 called the nWo.  Monday nights were huge in America with the ratings between WWE and WCW.  There would be an overlapping of shows so unless you had two televisions, you weren't able to see both at the same time.

The WWE wrestling names of Razor Ramon and Diesel wrestled in their final matches with the company in early May 1996.  It has never been determined if their contracts ran out or they jumped ship.  The following week, Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) appeared on a WCW Nitro show and created a lot of havoc.  He interrupted a match and was creating havoc with Eric Bischoff, the announcer (WCW owner and recently retired from wrestling altogether).

Two weeks later, it was determined that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash (Diesel) had signed with WCW shortly leaving WWE.  Nash would appear and at the time, the duo would initially be called The Outsiders.  Over time, several wrestlers would join the group led by Hulk Hogan who turned heel.  It was then that The Outsiders changed their group name to the nWo.

Over the past weekend at the SETUP Thailand pro wrestling event, EP21 Double Cross, there was a different type of development that has the fans in Bangkok and throughout the Southeast Asia area buzzing.

There was a SETUP Openweight Title Match between the champion, Andruew Tang and Jonathan Johnson.  This blogger wasn't there at the show.  However, reels show that a third party, SETUP's Shivam, interrupted the referee's count at two by pulling him out of the ring.  It so happens that the referee gets knocked woozy by Shivam's blow.

Prior to the show, it was announced by SETUP Thailand's management team that Shivam was to be barred from ringside for the match.  This was from an incident involving Shivam, Johnson and Tang at last November's final show of the year.

Shivam enters the ring with both Johnson and Tang still in the ring.  Johnson attempts to closeline Shivam, misses, and Shivam nails him coming off the ropes.  Eventually, Tang pins Johnson and retains the title.

That wasn't enough however.  Shivam would yell out to the crowd that there would be a "takeover" of the local wrestling industry.  He and Tang would form an "alliance" known as Real Global Threat.  Then, both Shivam and Tang, following the announcement would continue to punish Jonathan.  The referee, wrestlers and some staff try to come in and break it up, all to no avail.  Finally, Jake De Leon, a wrestler from the Philippines comes in and makes the save.  He had appeared at the show and wrestled Shivam in an earlier match that night.

It will be interesting to see how the Real Global Threat situation will play out.  You have two wrestlers, Shivam and Andruew Tang, who are both champions.  They wrestle for different promotions.  The two have faced each other in singles matches, but not as a team before.

Also, it will interesting how SETUP management will deal with this one.  It's been recorded that Jonathan Johnson wants a match regarding both wrestlers.  Will Jake De Leon return to be Jonathan's partner?

In the meantime, who knows what Real Global Threat night do.  There are numerous promotions throughout Southeast Asia.  Maybe it could be a future SPW show.  Perhaps, they could fly to Vietnam or the Philippines.

It will be interesting.  I remember the nWo group lasted roughly four years.  This "alliance" might last awhile.

SETUP Thailand EP21 Double Cross Results

Hello everyone.

Here are the results from SETUP Thailand's show, EP21 Double Cross.  The show took place this past Saturday night, March 22nd at The Circus Studio.  Normally, I don't do a recap unless this blogger was at the event.  However, this recap is important in various ways.

The show began with a tribute to Masa Takanashi by playing his intro song.  He took part in SETUP's very first show back in January 2020 and is a very familiar face to the fans in Thailand and throughout all of Asia.

Takanashi suffered an unfortunate neck injury a few days ago at a show in Japan.  All of us who have read about, or know him, we're thinking, praying, and are hoping for the best.  Our thought and prayers are with him at this time.

On to the show, this blogger heard, read and saw some clips.  It was wild to say the least.  A loud and boisterous crowd of 141 fans saw some great action.   The second, third and fourth matches were a part of the Uprising Series which will give everyone some much needed experience.

The final three matches had some great action and also, very interesting endings.  None of the SETUP Titles changed hands, but there were interesting developments that happened.  This blogger wasn't there, but word does get back, especially from about 12,800 kilometers away...

There was a chair shot that ended one match.

There was a referee, for some reason, that stopped a count in a tag match.  Heard some rumor going around that the referee was paid.

And then there was some interference from a wrestler who wasn't supposed to be at ringside.  Not only that, he aligned with another wrestler after the match to become a group called the Real Global Threat.  Am hearing that RGT want to take over the local wrestling industry.

This fan, while doing this post is supposed to be unbiased here.  However, thanks to this blogger's regional wrestling hero, JDL, he stopped RGT before any further damage was done.  This blogger hears that our regional wrestling hero will team up with Jonathan Johnson and have challenged RGT to a match scheduled this coming May.

AND.......if some things can be worked out back in America, this blogger WILL be visiting Thailand AND will be at the May show!  I want to thank several fans who shared some insights with the show as well as sharing pics, reels and more.  Also, thank you to SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling, to Pumi, the staff, and to all the wrestlers and fans involved.  It makes doing this post a whole lot easier to do.

Here are the results...

Anont Alonzo d. "Gatekeeper" Hyde in an open challenge.

Kevin Weng d. Kru Pol.

Flame Drake and Gunn wrestled to a 10 minute time limit draw.

Pondhub & Blick Drewz d. Chalee & Admin Oak.

Shivam d. Jake De Leon in the #1 contender's qualifying match for the IWA Japan World Heavyweight Title.  Shivam will face Jonathan Johnson and Mikey Wild in the tournament final.

Matcha d. Alexis Lee and is the #1 contender for the SETUP All Asia Women's Title.

The Good Deal d. Jack N' Cheese and remain the IWA SETUP World Tag Team Champions.  They successfully defended it for the fourth time.

Andruew Tang d. Jonathan Johnson in Tang's first defense of the title and remains the SETUP Openweight Champion.

SETUP Thailand's Kevin Weng

Hello
everyone.

The next wrestler that this blogger will talk about will be taking part in SETUP Thailand's Uprising Series beginning in March.  The wrestler that this blogger is referring to is Kevin Weng.

Over the last few weeks, this fan has changed messages with him.  He's been great sharing his experiences in wrestling.

Kevin got into pro wrestling with SETUP Thailand about the middle portion of 2021 in a very difficult time for all of us.  Eventually, he became a referee with the promotion about a year later.

The first time learning about Kevin Weng was back in January 2023.  Under the name "Akaradeth", Kevin wrestled in what, this blogger believes, was his first match.  He would wrestle again in May in a tag match and was victorious.

In July, Kevin and Pondhub would become part of a tag team known as St. John's Innocent College.  They would be joined by Professor Pol (Kru Pol).

In September 2023, St. John's Innocent College would improve by winning a semi final match for the IWA Japan Tag Team Championship.  They would lose in the Championship Round to the current champions, The Good Deal.  However, the team gained a lot of experience as they went through some experienced teams in the tournament.

St. John's Innocent College and The Good Deal would face each other several more times with Kevin and Pondhub winning on one occasion, a Triple Threat Match, in the first show in January 2024.

There would be a singles match that Kevin took part in the month of March.  He would defeat Terry Diesel, which was a huge victory on National Smiles Day.

Then came an event in March at The Circus Studio.  Kevin, with his partner Pondhub, and Kru Pol in their corner, faced the Gym Bros, a very experienced tag team in Southeast Asia.  The match didn't go quite the way that they expected it to.  The Gym Bros would win the match but there seemed to appear to be a rift between the two.

The rift would eventually turn into a singles match in May at the Cash Of The Titans show.  Kevin would face Pondhub with Kru Pol being the Special Guest Referee.  Pondhub won the match in a very unusual fashion (please see You Tube).

However, Kevin would gain some more singles match experience, in a losing effort, when facing Shivam at the Santo Slam show.

Then, at the Chaophraya Voyage October show a couple of days later, a Triple Threat Match between Kevin Weng, Pondhub and Kru Pol had Pondhub being eliminated fro the School because he was pinned.  The three are now singles wrestlers.

The following month, at November's Year End Climax show, Kevin would take part in the 20 Person Setup Rumble which he did well in.  The effort in the match would elevate him to a January show.  Also, Kevin has become the SETUP 24/7 Champion.

In January at the Bangkok Navigation show, Kevin wrestled very well against an experienced Daz Black.  It was for the Premier British Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship.  Though disappointed with the outcome, Kevin showed the ability that he can fight with the best that the promotion has to offer.  The fans at The Circus Studio and those, including this blogger watching You Tube, saw the effort.

This brings to this coming March.  The Uprising Series that SETUP Thailand has is six capable wrestlers that can win the tournament come June's show.  All six have the potential to step up their game and gain some added experience.  This blogger would never count anyone out, especially Kevin Weng.  Definitely he won't!

SETUP Thailand: EP21 Double Cross

Hello everyone.

SETUP Thailand's next show, EP21: Double Cross is now the theme for the March show.  Speaking about the event, it is on Saturday, March 22nd at The Circus Studio beginning at 6:30pm.  Doors will open for the event at 6pm.

A lot has happened since the blog has been idle for a few days.  It's to the understanding that a few of Singapore Pro Wrestling's talents will be coming to Thailand for the upcoming show.  This is to strengthen local wrestling scenes and provide a better foundation on the global stage.

Because of an injury to SETUP's Monomoth at the hands of Shivam, there will be a special match to determine the new contender for the 'IWA Japan World Title No.1 spot.'  IWA Japan management wants this match to be a Triple Threat variety.  More on this match in the coming weeks.

Also, SPW's "The Statement" Andruew Tang is currently the SETUP Thailand Openweight Champion.  Will he return to The Circus Studio and defend the belt?  Who will his opponent be if the opportunity arises?  Jonathan Johnson would be the obvious choice after what happened last November.  Anyway, all of these questions will be answered in the coming days and weeks.

In the meantime, for more information on this show, including tickets, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  My understanding is that there's an Early Bird Promotion.  However, please visit the page.

SETUP Thailand, as always, can be found on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram and You Tube.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand Bangkok Navigation Update #11

Hello everyone!

There is a disclaimer that this blogger should post in every wrestling show.

The disclaimer is that a wrestling show is subject to change regarding a wrestling card.  This happened with this fan last Saturday night while attending a NJPW wrestling show live and it's happening with the upcoming SETUP show this coming Saturday night.

Originally, the singles number one contender match for the IWA Japan World Heavyweight Championship was supposed to be between Shota and Monomoth.  However, it is now a Triple Threat "Decision" Match between Shota, Monomoth and the MYPW SEA Champion, Shivam.

I'm not going into the details as to why this match was changed.  In the future, maybe this fan will discuss it.  For the fans who read my blog, please check the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page, You Tube or any other social media platform as to the decision.

In the meantime, Bangkok Navigation, as this fan knows will still be on Saturday night at The Circus Studio beginning at 6:30pm.  Have a good day everyone!

Congratulations SETUP Thailand!

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling! Five years ago on January 11th, SETUP Thailand hosted their first pro wrestling show at The Circus Studio before 232 fans, a sellout.

There were eight matches on the show (Bangkok Showdown) with four of them, title matches (per Cagematch)!  The show was a collaboration with India's Wrestle Square.  Current SETUP wrestlers, Jonathan Johnson, Shivam and Paksa were in the show.  Other names to mention were Emi Sakura, Andruew Tang, Alexis Lee, Ho Ho Lun, Zombie Dragon, and others in the Southeast Asia area, were a part of one memorable show that day.

Thank you to Panuwat for the reminder on this.  Also, thank you to Pumi who has been tremendous with the wrestling scene in Thailand!

Tomorrow, will do another SETUP post regarding a couple of major matches at next weekend's Bangkok Navigation.  Have a good weekend everyone!

The SPW SEA Championship Match

This coming Friday, Singapore Pro Wrestling will have their first show of 2025.  SPW: Champions Never Yield 3 will take place at the Foo Chow Building beginning at 7:30pm.  The doors will open at 7pm.

This blogger is intrigued with the SPW Southeast Asian Championship Match.  It is a four way match involving the champion, Da Butcherman, former champion, Aiden Rex, Shivam (SETUP Thailand and the current MYPW SEA Champion) and Jake De Leon (former PWR and MWF Champions).

Everyone but Jake De Leon has won an SPW title at least once.  The question is will his opponents overlook him?  He's certainly hungry enough to win the belt and take it back to the Philippines.

Shivam and Da Butcherman each have one current championship right now and both are looking for a second!

Also, Aiden Rex is hungry to reclaim the title he lost.  He has been quiet lately and, perhaps, he has a game plan that the other three wrestlers don't know about.

With a four way, the stakes are high.  The current champion does not have to be pinned to lose his or her title.  This match will be a great one.

For more, including tickets, please visit the SPW Facebook page.  The show appears to be a great one and hopefully, wrestling fans in Singapore won't miss it!

Singapore Pro Wrestling's Next Show

Hello everyone!

Singapore Pro Wrestling's next show, Champions Never Yield 3, will take place on Friday, January 10, 2025.  The venue is the Foo Chow Building in Singapore.  Doors will open at 7pm with the show beginning at 7:30pm.

Two matches have already been announced and they are huge!

"The Statement" Andruew Tang recently won the SETUP Thailand Openweight Championship In Thailand against Jonathan Johnson.  He will be making his first defense of the title against the UK's, Trent Seven in what is termed as an International Dream Match.

Also, there will be a four way match for the SPW Southeast Asia Championship.  The champion, Da Butcherman will face some very stiff competition.  Recently, he defeated Andruew Tang to win the coveted belt.

"Mr. Philippine Wrestling," Jake De Leon, has won several championships in his career and represents PUSO Wrestling currently.  Over the past year, he has wrestled superstars, Zack Sabre Jr. and Shigehiro Irie and has definitely gained more experience from these matches.

Shivam, the MYPW SEA Champion from Thailand, wants to add a second championship belt to his collection.

Aiden Rex, the former SPW Southeast Asia Champion, faced all comers for the belt while he was the title holder.  He lost the belt to Andruew Tang earlier this year.
