SETUP Thailand EP21 Double Cross Results

Hello everyone.

Here are the results from SETUP Thailand's show, EP21 Double Cross.  The show took place this past Saturday night, March 22nd at The Circus Studio.  Normally, I don't do a recap unless this blogger was at the event.  However, this recap is important in various ways.

The show began with a tribute to Masa Takanashi by playing his intro song.  He took part in SETUP's very first show back in January 2020 and is a very familiar face to the fans in Thailand and throughout all of Asia.

Takanashi suffered an unfortunate neck injury a few days ago at a show in Japan.  All of us who have read about, or know him, we're thinking, praying, and are hoping for the best.  Our thought and prayers are with him at this time.

On to the show, this blogger heard, read and saw some clips.  It was wild to say the least.  A loud and boisterous crowd of 141 fans saw some great action.   The second, third and fourth matches were a part of the Uprising Series which will give everyone some much needed experience.

The final three matches had some great action and also, very interesting endings.  None of the SETUP Titles changed hands, but there were interesting developments that happened.  This blogger wasn't there, but word does get back, especially from about 12,800 kilometers away...

There was a chair shot that ended one match.

There was a referee, for some reason, that stopped a count in a tag match.  Heard some rumor going around that the referee was paid.

And then there was some interference from a wrestler who wasn't supposed to be at ringside.  Not only that, he aligned with another wrestler after the match to become a group called the Real Global Threat.  Am hearing that RGT want to take over the local wrestling industry.

This fan, while doing this post is supposed to be unbiased here.  However, thanks to this blogger's regional wrestling hero, JDL, he stopped RGT before any further damage was done.  This blogger hears that our regional wrestling hero will team up with Jonathan Johnson and have challenged RGT to a match scheduled this coming May.

AND.......if some things can be worked out back in America, this blogger WILL be visiting Thailand AND will be at the May show!  I want to thank several fans who shared some insights with the show as well as sharing pics, reels and more.  Also, thank you to SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling, to Pumi, the staff, and to all the wrestlers and fans involved.  It makes doing this post a whole lot easier to do.

Here are the results...

Anont Alonzo d. "Gatekeeper" Hyde in an open challenge.

Kevin Weng d. Kru Pol.

Flame Drake and Gunn wrestled to a 10 minute time limit draw.

Pondhub & Blick Drewz d. Chalee & Admin Oak.

Shivam d. Jake De Leon in the #1 contender's qualifying match for the IWA Japan World Heavyweight Title.  Shivam will face Jonathan Johnson and Mikey Wild in the tournament final.

Matcha d. Alexis Lee and is the #1 contender for the SETUP All Asia Women's Title.

The Good Deal d. Jack N' Cheese and remain the IWA SETUP World Tag Team Champions.  They successfully defended it for the fourth time.

Andruew Tang d. Jonathan Johnson in Tang's first defense of the title and remains the SETUP Openweight Champion.

SETUP Thailand Double Cross Show Update #8

Hello everyone.  This post is a little long, but very important.  Please read.  Thanks.

In a stunning development, there has been one more match added for the SETUP Thailand EP21 show scheduled for March 22nd at The Circus Studio.

In an IWA Japan World Championship #1 Contender Tournament Qualifying Match, PUSO Wrestling and Mr. Philippine Wrestling's, Jake De Leon will take on the MYPW SEA Champion, Shivam.  This match is a major one for both competitors in their wrestling careers!

Jake De Leon just recently came off a huge tag team match in the Philippines where he teamed up with legendary Japanese wrestler, Yoshi Tatsu at the Dexcon show.  Their team won a successful match this last weekend.

Shivam is the MYPW SEA Champion and won the title last year at the IWA SETUP 30th Anniversary show at The Circus Studio.

Both JDL and Shivam have seen each other before, at least twice over the past year.  The latest was a four way match in Singapore when both wrestlers were wrestling for the SPW SEA Title that is currently held by Da Butcherman with SPW.  This match. everyone, is a main eventer anywhere in Southeast Asia.  Fans in Thailand should be really excited about this one!

Note**  The winner of this match will face Jonathan Johnson and Mikey Wild in a Three Way match sometime later this year.

Here is the rest of the lineup for the show.

Kru Pol vs. Kevin Weng in a Uprising Series Block A Match.

Flame Drake vs. Gunn in a Uprising Series Block B Match.

Jack N' Cheese (BGJ and CBK) vs. The Good Deal (Anont Alonzo and Mr. Suchart) (C) for the IWA SETUP World Tag Team Championship.

Andruew Tang (C) vs. Jonathan Johnson for the SETUP Thailand Openweight Championship.  Shivam has been banned from ringside.

Matcha vs. Alexis Lee with the winner receiving a future title shot for the SETUP All Asia Championship.

Jake De Leon vs TBD in the SETUP World Championship Tournament.

Tickets are still available for the show this Saturday.  Please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand's Flame Drake

Hello everyone.

Hope everyone is enjoying the series of posts regarding the wrestlers who will compete in SETUP Thailand's Uprising Series Tournament.  The event will begin with the EP21: Double Cross show on March 22nd.

In the past few days, this blogger shared some information on Kru Pol and Kevin Weng.  This fan knows that many reading this know their background from the shows attended and social media.  The blogger also knows that there is a new audience of people reading this that are new to the Southeast Asia pro wrestling scene.  In any case, hopefully all of you are enjoying this.

The next wrestler to be mentioned in the upcoming tournament is no stranger to the Thailand pro wrestling scene.  His name is Flame Drake.

From my conversations, Flame Drake is definitely a huge wrestling fan.  Along with SETUP Thailand's P'Suchart (or Mr. Suchart), both, as fans only, attended SETUP Thailand's first wrestling show.  Both Flame Drake and P'Suchart are long time friends and have encouraged each other over the years.

The event was back in January 2020 called Bangkok Showdown.  The event was a joint effort with Wrestle Square, a promotion from India.  Also, some wrestlers from throughout Asia helped the event be a huge success.

Flame Drake would begin training at TOP Dojo under Golem Thai and P-Nutz while P'Suchart went to SETUP and began training with the promotion.

Flame Drake would win his first pro wrestling match for TOP Dojo (Thailand Origin Pro Wrestling) back in December 2020.  He would win a singles match at an event known as Battle Royal.  It took place on a mat, very normal for professional wrestling in Southeast Asia.  The venue was the Motorway Dojo.

He would continue with the promotion, event through the Covid pandemic that affected pro wrestling everywhere.  Flame Drake continued with the promotion until November 2024.  He would defeat Golem Thai, someone who helped train him in his professional career.  It would be the first time defeating him.  The victory is a statement to wrestlers never to give up!  Flame Drake would announce that he would be leaving the promotion for a new chapter in his professional career.

In November, at SETUP Thailand's event, Year End Climax, Flame Drake would make his SETUP debut in the 20 person rumble match.  It ended up, after watching the You Tube video, that he was #20 entering the Battle Royal.  It can be seen on SETUP's You Tube channel.

In January, Flame Drake would be in his first tag match at SETUP, teaming up with Blick Drewz against long time friend, P'Suchart and Anont Alonzo for the IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Championship.  Blick Drewz and Flame Drake would renew acquaintances as tag team partners for the match.  Flame Drake mentioned to me that Blick Drewz was his senior wrestler with TOP Dojo back when he was started.  Today, they are both wrestling with SETUP.

It will be interesting what the future holds for a wrestler that I enjoy watching on video.  He's fast, agile, definitely has wrestling skills, has been trained well both on the mat as well as ring action.  The fans who have seen him at shows such as The Circus Studio rally behind him.  Like everyone that is taking part in the Uprising Series, I would not bet against him!

SETUP Thailand Bangkok Navigation Update #9

Hello everyone!

SETUP Thailand's upcoming show, Bangkok Navigation, will take place this coming Saturday night at The Circus Studio G Village in Bangkok.  Doors open at 6pm with the first match at 6:30pm.

This fan is excited about the upcoming IWA Japan x SETUP Tag Team match.  The Good Deal (Anont Alonzo & Mr. Suchart), the current champions, face Blick Drewz and Flame Drake for the coveted championship.

Blick Drewz and Flame Drake are new to SETUP Thailand but not new to the wrestling scene in Thailand.  Flame Drake mentioned to me recently that Blick was his senior wrestler when they were at TOP Dojo, one of Thailand's other promotions in the country.

Also, Flame Drake and Mr. Suchart are friends and it was mentioned that both wrestlers were fans at SETUP's inaugural wrestling show back in 2020.

Since this blogger has mentioned three of the four wrestlers, I want to mention Anont Alonzo for a moment.  There is no question that he's a very good quality wrestler whether it's in singles or tag team competition.  I've seen it on video.  His opponents know this as well as the fans watching.

It will be interesting how the match plays out.  If it was me instead of either Flame Drake or Mr. Suchart, I'm trying to help our team win. Definitely, the importance is not only winning the match, but either winning or retaining the title.

The fans are definitely looking forward to the outcome of this and the other matches on the show.

Front row seats are sold out for Saturday's show.  Please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page on remaining tickets.  Thank you!

The IWA World Tag Team Championship has been just announced.  The team of Blick Drewz and Flame Drake, no strangers to the pro wrestling scene in Thailand, will take on the champions, The Good Deal (Anont Alonzo and Mr. Suchart).  This appears to be a dream match for both teams!

For more information on this match, the show, and for tickets, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Also, SETUP Thailand can be found on You Tube.  Thank you!

More About TOP Dojo

Back in July 2024, this blogger first heard of TOP Dojo or Thailand Origin Pro Wrestling.  It was through The Eurasian Dragon, a well known wrestler from Singapore that heads the Ring Of Rebirth promotion.

Ring Of Rebirth sent several wrestlers to the Bangkok area of Thailand for a show.  What I noticed right away was a little of my short background in high school.  That was wrestling on a mat.

This blogger will always appreciate pro wrestling whether the promotion and event is staged on a mat or a ring.  Several promotions in Southeast Asia began their quests with pro wrestling on a mat format.  Vietnam Pro Wrestling, for example, has done that.

It wasn't until recently on Facebook when I became friends with TOP Dojo Ring Announcer, Jason.  He shared some things about the promotion, the promotion's major show, as well as the country of Thailand.  Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia are places I would like to visit one day.

It appears that the groundwork for TOP Dojo began in late December 2019.

Led by P-Nutz and Golem Thai, TOP Dojo's first show, Reborn, would take place on February 29, 2020.  Along with the two mentioned, Jibsy, a top woman wrestler in Thailand wrestled in the show along with Blick Drewz, Kuma, Jay Yuu, Hideo (who's birthday is the same day as this blogger) and Oath took part.  The event was held at the Motorway Dojo, just east of the downtown area of Bangkok.

Unfortunately, less than a month later, the Covid pandemic set in and crippled pro wrestling throughout the world.  TOP Dojo would do a show late in December.  However, it wouldn't be until February 2022 before another show took place.

Also, because of the pandemic, several wrestlers who were at the initial show back in February 2020 are no longer wrestling currently.

P-Nutz, the owner and the first King Of Thai Wrestling Champion, has a very good roster.  Golem Thai, one of the original members is still an active member along with Kuma and Jay Yuu.  One of my favorites, Flame Drake, is very active.  Bobby, Jonathan Wolf, K.H.J, Earth and Mickey Rawz have made some appearances.

The remainder of the roster is Prince Benny (the current King Of Thai Wrestling Champion), Silver Bullet, Wassana, B. Jirawat, JT, Bahopia (a trainee) and Best Boonpa.  Jason continues to be the ring announcer and does a great job at it.  If there is anyone I missed, please message or contact me and will add them here.

The promotion also has stables (groups) like what you would see at New Japan Pro Wrestling.  Wassana, a masked wrestler in the promotion is a member of FREE CLANS.  P-Nutz and Golem Thai are currently BAD COMPANY.  Silver Bullet and Kuma are KAIJU and Flame Drake and Prince Benny are REVOLUTION SQUAD.

TOP Dojo's major show is Siam Fighter.  The latest version took place in November and was in a ring format.  Their other shows include Reinforce, Unleash, Nuclear Reaction and Overheat.  Most of the mat shows take place at the Motorway Dojo, located east of the center of Bangkok.

For more on TOP Dojo, please visit the TOP Dojo - Thailand Origin Pro Wrestling page on Facebook.  Also, they can be found on You Tube.  Please subscribe to them.  Thanks everyone!
