SETUP's Jonathan Johnson in Japan

Hello everyone.

My apologies to SETUP, and to Jonathan Johnson on this being late.  Jonathan and Masahiro Takanashi will take on Chris Brookes and Munetatsu Nakamura in a ChocoPro Tag Team match tomorrow (Saturday).

This is kind of unusual to this blogger because Takanashi and Brookes are tag team partners (Calamari Drunken Kings).  That being said, this will be a good match for Jonathan.  Also, we will get to know a little more about Munetatsu Nakamura.

According to sources, he's been wrestling in ring action for a little over two years now.  He is 23 years of age but has had a few matches under him with 123 going into this upcoming match.  He has wrestled both in singles and tag team competition.

SETUP Thailand's The Good Deal

Hello everyone.

One of this blogger's favorite tag teams in all of Southeast Asia comes from Thailand.  SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling is now in its sixth year as a promotion.  This fan has mentioned about the promotion this past January during their five year anniversary.  It's always fun doing posts about their shows and results.  Also, this fan has been fortunate to get to know the wrestlers, staff and the great fans in BKK and the region.

SETUP's The Good Deal is a fun tag team to watch.  I'm sure teams such as St. John's Innocent College and, perhaps, Calamari Drunken Kings, may not agree.  However, the fans are, more than receptive, of their athletic ability and style in the ring.  The team has an amazing type of chemistry, something that you don't see in a lot of tag teams.

Starting with P'Suchart (today Mr. Suchart), he and Flame Drake are huge wrestling fans who both went to SETUP's first ever show back in January 2020.  From there, P'Suchart, his eventual tag team partner, Anont Alonzo and Bital Hasdin, would be involved with the promotion.  The three would be SETUP's first trainees.

This fan is certain that the Covid pandemic affected many people and promotions throughout the world on any wrestler's progress.  However, Anont and P'Suchart were able to get through this rough time.

In January 2022, P'Suchart would make his wrestling debut against Paksa in an exhibition match.  This was after doing some refereeing in a couple of shows.  For any new wrestler in SETUP, Paksa, a wrestler and a trainer for SETUP, would be the perfect matchup.

After his debut match in April, he would win SETUP's first belt.  Some people night think of the SETUP 24/7 title as something "junky."  However, this fan looks at it as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Anyway, P'Suchart won the title and would hold it until losing to Monomoth, one of the major stars of the promotion.  He would win it back, only to lose it to Ken Warren of the Manila Wrestling Federation (Philippines).

After a few months, P'Suchart would win the rematch over Warren at The Circus Studio in March 2023.  He would win it for a third time!  He would keep the title for about two months before losing in a Triple Threat Match in May.  Though he hasn't attempted in winning back the belt up to now, he had bigger things in mind.  This fan will share that later after talking next about Anont Alonzo.

As was mentioned early in the post, Anont and P'Suchart, along with Bital Hasdin were the first new trainees.  Anont's first match happened at SETUP's 10 Years Of Wrestling event.  It was a mat event at the Family BJJ (Motorway Dojo) in October 2022.  Anont (who went by the name Nont at the time) defeated Akaradeth (now known as Kevin Weng).  It was an exhibition match where both wrestled in an event for the first time.

Nont would lose and win in the next two shows.  After losing to Akaradeth in November at The Circus Studio, he would rebound and defeat Kappa Kozo, a more experienced wrestler in December on a mat format.

In January, at the EP11 show, Nont would defeat Akaradeth and he would now be on the SETUP roster as Anont Alonzo.  Two months later, he would make his debut in a tag match with Matcha against Kappa World Order.  KWO would defeat them in controversial order but you could see the athleticism of Alonzo in the match.

After the May 2023 EP13 show,  Anont Alonzo and P'Suchart would become part of a tag team known as The Good Deal.  In July at the EP14 show, The Good Deal would defeat another tag team, St. John's Innocent College.  The latter team had just teamed up for the first time in the May event.

In September 2023, there would be an IWA SETUP Tag Team Tournament to determine a winner of the vacant title.  There would be a semi-final and final match.  Nine teams from throughout Southeast Asia took part.  Each match was a Triple Threat variety.

The Good Deal would become the 10th tag team, and first in Thailand history to win the titles.  They defeated their rivals, St. John's Innocent College and the Barbie Boys in a Triple Threat match.

One month later, in October, The Good Deal would defeat St. John's in their first defense of the title.

However, they would lose in a previously not scheduled - no DQ - Bonus Match to the Calamari Drunken Kings.  The match occurred after CDK's, Chris Brookes said some nasty things about wrestlers, fans, Thailand and SETUP in general.  The Good Deal came out, after hearing all this, and eventually challenged CDK.  It would be the only time that The Good Deal would lose in a championship match to date.  It was something the this tag team did not forget over the winter and spring.

At the following July's IWA / SETUP 30th Anniversary show, The Good Deal got their rematch and revenge against CDK and Dr. Gore & UltraMantis Black in a Triple Threat match .  Since then, they've defended the belts successfully on at least four occasions against teams throughout the region.

In March, The Good Deal will defend the IWA SETUP belts against Jack N' Cheese from Singapore Pro Wrestling.  This team has been on the doorstep of titles over the past year in Singapore and Vietnam.  The team will make their debut in Thailand at the SETUP EP21 Double Cross show on March 22nd.

I'm sure Anont Alonzo and Mr. Suchart will be ready for this match, and in more ways than one.

SETUP Thailand Uprising Series '25 Match #2 Announced

Hello everyone.

SETUP Thailand's Uprising Series '25 Match #2 was just announced a few hours ago.

The First Round (Block A) - 10 minute time limit match will feature two wrestlers who have never faced each other in singles one on one competition before.  This will feature SETUP Thailand 24/7 Champion, Kevin Weng vs. Kru Pol.  From what is explained on the Facebook page (am getting confirmation), the SETUP 24/7 title is being defended as well.

Both wrestlers were a part of the faction, St. John's Innocent College with Kru Pol being the teacher and Kevin Weng is the student.  Late last year, things "temporarily" broke apart when Ponhub, the third member, and tag team partner of Kevin Weng, lost in a Triple Threat Match and was "expelled" from the school.  There is a lot at stake here for both wrestlers.

The EP21: Double Cross show, once again, is scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd, 6:30pm, at The Circus Studio G Village in Bangkok.  For tickets, and more information, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.

Links to the blog features on Kevin Weng and Kru Pol are posted below for everyone.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand's Pondhub

Hello everyone.

Hope all of you are enjoying the Uprising Series feature on all six of SETUP Thailand's wrestlers in the upcoming tournament.

The next wrestler this blogger would like to mention is Pondhub.  The following information is factual and is what this blogger sees in, what is, an up and coming as well as an improving wrestler.

(NOTE - Please Facebook message me at SF Wayne regarding anything good or otherwise on this post).

The first time this blogger saw video of Pondhub was in May 2023 at the EP13 show.  It was a match I've seen on You Tube several times and, believe me, it was impressive.  It was the first match on the show and it was a tag team match that featured four up and coming stars on the SETUP Thailand promotion.

Pondhub caught my eye right away.  His build when you see him in the ring is similar to this blogger.  However, he has great agility, moves around the ring quickly and is very athletic.

There were other things noticable.  Pondhub has a great character which the SETUP Thailand wrestling fans picked up on right away.  The interaction was tremenduous.  This came at a time when pro wrestling defeinitely needed it.  That was coming back from a pandemic that affected sports entertainment nearly worldwide.

Pondhub showed a lot of wrestling skill for someone that was very new to sports entertainment.  The assumption is that he likely started training once the pandemic was lifted. Anyway, Pondhub, along with his partner, Akaradeth (today known as Kevin Weng), won the match that day.

A couple of months later, Pondhub would gain some more experience in a tag team match against The Good Deal at the EP14 event.  The success led to Pondhub being part of the IWA Japan SETUP Tag Team Championship tournament in September.  He would wrestle twice that day, a great experience for any young wrestler.

Pondhub would be involved in several more matches as a tag team partner.  There would be a great rivalry with Pondhub and his partner, Kevin Weng facing the current IWA Tag Champions in The Good Deal.  In their last encounter, the team known as St. John's Innocent College would win in a Triple Threat match.

In May 2024, Pondhub would defeat his former partner, Kevin Weng in a singles match.  Both wrestlers actually did well that day.  There was a rift between the two from the previous show.  Some fans and bloggers like myself look at it, perhaps a little different as a singles wrestler seeing what they can do alone.  Pondhub won.

It would set up a Triple Threat match in the next show that had Pondhub, Kevin Weng and Kru Pol, the teacher.  Kru Pol would win in his debut.  What this fan noticed however is how all three participants have improved since their very beginnings in the promotion.

Pondhub has wrestled twice since this match.  He took part in the 20 Person Rumble in November in which he did quite well.

Then there was the four way intergender match at SETUP's last show in January.  From watching the match on You Tube, this may have been Pondhub's best showing.  Fatal Four matches are difficult to judge, at times, but there was a lot of good with him that came out of the encounter.

The brackets for the Uprising Series have been made and Pondhub is in the B bracket.  Personally, that should not make any difference to him or perhaps anyone in this tournament.  Some people, not myself, may feel that he's a darkhorse to win.  My gut feeling (only my opinion here) is that all six work hard in practice and the results have, and are showing.

Whenever you see improvement in each wrestler in this tournament, it's very rare when someone who doesn't work out at all has tons of ability.  Working out provides better results and that is what each one has.  Pondhub definitely is another wrestler to watch, and not just in the Uprising Series.  There is quite a future ahead for him!

SETUP Thailand EP21: Double Cross Update #5

Hello everyone.

SETUP Thailand's next show, EP21: Double Cross, will take place on Saturday, March 22nd.  The venue is The Circus Studio - G Village Bangkok beginning at 6:30pm.

The return match has been set for the SETUP Thailand Openweight Championship.  The champion, Andruew Tang from Singapore Pro Wrestling will face previous champion, Jonathan Johnson.

In the last encounter, as the fans know by now, Andruew Tang became the new champion with the assistance of SETUP's Shivam.  This led to SETUP management adding a stipulation to the match in fairness to both competitors.  Shivam is to be banned from ringside!

More on both competitors here.  Andruew Tang is regarded as the most decorated wrestler in Southeast Asia pro wrestling history.  He has won multiple titles in his career and has been the current SETUP titleholder for 87 days as of this post.

SETUP's Jonathan Johnson, the previous titleholder held the belt for 315 days and defended the belt multiple times in Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.  Southeast Asia wrestling fans have had an opportunity to see one of the top wrestlers in the region.

Tickets are still on sale for the upcoming show.  Please visit SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling's Facebook page for more information.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand's Blick Drewz

Hello everyone.

The next SETUP Thailand wrestling show is on Saturday, March 22nd with the event, EP21 Double Cross.  Part of the event will feature a series called the Uprising Series.

For those that haven't been following, but reading for the first time, SETUP has selected six wrestlers who will take part in the tournament as you can see on the top of the post.  This blogger has done feature stories on Kru Pol, Kevin Weng and Flame Drake.  The next feature will be someone who recently returned to pro wrestling here in Thailand.  His name is Blick Drewz.

The first time hearing about Blick Drewz was an article by Under The Ropes called Thailand's Pro Wrestlers in 2019.  There was mention of a tag team that wrestled for Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling (which today is ChocoPro).  The team consisted of Monomoth and Blick Drewz.  Eventually, the two would separate when two promotions, SETUP Thailand and TOP Dojo would begin separate promotions in the country.

In February 2020, Blick Drewz would be one of eight wrestlers that would take part in the promotion's first show, Reborn at the Motorway Dojo.  He would continue during the year.  He would finish 2020 winning in a tag team match in December.  It would be over a year before the promotion put on another show.  The covid-19 epidemic was the reason.

Likely because of the uncertainty, Blick would step away from the ring.  It happened to a few wrestlers worldwide so the retirement was not uncommon.

Because of the passion, the increased number of wrestling fans in Thailand, and missing the excitement and competition, Blick eventually returned to the squared circle.

In November's show, EP20 - Year End Climax, he made his return to the ring in a 20 person SETUP Rumble.  The fans at The Circus Studio cheered wildly because they had no idea that he was returning to action.  Up until that time, not everyone was named to take part in the event.

Since that time, Blick Drewz had wrestled in another SETUP show, Bangkok Navigation as a part of a tag team with someone who he was familiar with back in 2020, Flame Drake.

As of this post, both Blick Drewz and Flame Drake along with Kru Pol, Kevin Weng, Pondhub and Gunn will take part in the Uprising Series that begins on Saturday, March 22.  Blick does have some experience going back to 2019 and despite the layoff, he will be certain to meet the challenge of the other competitors in the tournament.  It's great to see any wrestler return, especially one who loves in-ring competition!  Fans, and all of us in the pro wrestling scene, especially in Thailand, are excited about his return to action.

SETUP Thailand: EP21 - Double Cross Update #4

Hello everyone.

A "major" match has just been added for SETUP Thailand's show, EP21; Double Cross.  The event will take place at The Circus Studio, G Village, Bangkok on Saturday, March 22nd beginning at 6:30pm.

SETUP Thailand's Matcha, arguably the top female wrestler in Thailand, will face SPW's Alexis Lee in one terrific match!  The winner of the 20 minute time limit battle will get a future shot at the SETUP All Asia Women's Championship.  The title is currently held by Pom Harajuku.

Both women have held titles in their respective countries.  Matcha was the first winner of the SETUP All Asia Women's belt and held the title for nearly a year (315 days).  She lost to the current champion but is stepping up her game for another opportunity at this title sometime in the near future.

Alexis Lee is one amazing woman!  In her career, she has won four different titles and is currently the CWE Vixen's Champion!  She has held this title for 2445 days as of this post and has held it proudly against numerous opponents. Her title won't be on the line in this match.

This match is definitely main event material.  The two wrestlers have faced each other one other time to my knowledge.  It happened back in June 2022 when Matcha won at SETUP's EP6 show.  At the time, both promotions, along with the rest of pro wrestling worldwide, were recovering from the Covid-19 epidemic.  The statement here is not to make excuses, but factual.  The situation for both wrestlers, and promotions, is a better one today!

For more on the SETUP Thailand EP21: Double Cross show, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page for ticket information.  Thank you.

22 February 2025

SETUP Thailand's Flame Drake

Hello everyone.

Hope everyone is enjoying the series of posts regarding the wrestlers who will compete in SETUP Thailand's Uprising Series Tournament.  The event will begin with the EP21: Double Cross show on March 22nd.

In the past few days, this blogger shared some information on Kru Pol and Kevin Weng.  This fan knows that many reading this know their background from the shows attended and social media.  The blogger also knows that there is a new audience of people reading this that are new to the Southeast Asia pro wrestling scene.  In any case, hopefully all of you are enjoying this.

The next wrestler to be mentioned in the upcoming tournament is no stranger to the Thailand pro wrestling scene.  His name is Flame Drake.

From my conversations, Flame Drake is definitely a huge wrestling fan.  Along with SETUP Thailand's P'Suchart (or Mr. Suchart), both, as fans only, attended SETUP Thailand's first wrestling show.  Both Flame Drake and P'Suchart are long time friends and have encouraged each other over the years.

The event was back in January 2020 called Bangkok Showdown.  The event was a joint effort with Wrestle Square, a promotion from India.  Also, some wrestlers from throughout Asia helped the event be a huge success.

Flame Drake would begin training at TOP Dojo under Golem Thai and P-Nutz while P'Suchart went to SETUP and began training with the promotion.

Flame Drake would win his first pro wrestling match for TOP Dojo (Thailand Origin Pro Wrestling) back in December 2020.  He would win a singles match at an event known as Battle Royal.  It took place on a mat, very normal for professional wrestling in Southeast Asia.  The venue was the Motorway Dojo.

He would continue with the promotion, event through the Covid pandemic that affected pro wrestling everywhere.  Flame Drake continued with the promotion until November 2024.  He would defeat Golem Thai, someone who helped train him in his professional career.  It would be the first time defeating him.  The victory is a statement to wrestlers never to give up!  Flame Drake would announce that he would be leaving the promotion for a new chapter in his professional career.

In November, at SETUP Thailand's event, Year End Climax, Flame Drake would make his SETUP debut in the 20 person rumble match.  It ended up, after watching the You Tube video, that he was #20 entering the Battle Royal.  It can be seen on SETUP's You Tube channel.

In January, Flame Drake would be in his first tag match at SETUP, teaming up with Blick Drewz against long time friend, P'Suchart and Anont Alonzo for the IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Championship.  Blick Drewz and Flame Drake would renew acquaintances as tag team partners for the match.  Flame Drake mentioned to me that Blick Drewz was his senior wrestler with TOP Dojo back when he was started.  Today, they are both wrestling with SETUP.

It will be interesting what the future holds for a wrestler that I enjoy watching on video.  He's fast, agile, definitely has wrestling skills, has been trained well both on the mat as well as ring action.  The fans who have seen him at shows such as The Circus Studio rally behind him.  Like everyone that is taking part in the Uprising Series, I would not bet against him!

SETUP Thailand: EP21 Double Cross Update #3

Hello everyone.

Here's an update, and a statement courtesy of SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling regarding the March show, EP21 Double Cross scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd at The Circus Studio.

#SETUPTH After our announcement of our partnership with Dexcon - DXCN Philippines by Association of Thailand has decided to officially send Jake De Leon alias Mr. Philippine Wrestling as its representative. His opponent will be revealed later.
.
Jake De Leon is a former 24/7 Champion of SETUP during COVID-19, has attended WWE Try Out and most recently has wrestled in Korakuen Hall, alongside top Southeast Asian wrestlers such as Monomoth, Dr.Gore, Sawasdee Kamen. Also ‘tied’ with former IWGP World Champion such as Zack Sabre Jr.
.
‘JDL’ has already won almost every championship in the Philippines and he sees the world championship title as another important milestone for him to achieve because the elevation of Philippine wrestling is also one of his dreams and something he is truly proud of.

The only thing this blogger will add to SETUP's announcement, and this is important, is his professionalism in and outside the ring!  Wrestling for PUSO Wrestling today, he makes the time to message and/or speak with fans after shows.  This is something that is important and doesn't go unnoticed.  I've known him probably longer than any SEA wrestler and am grateful of his energy to do what he does in the squared circle.  Hopefully, the fans who will be at The Circus Studio will see what is being shared here!

Anyway, tickets are on sale right now for the event.  Again, it is Saturday, March 22nd beginning at 6:30pm at The Circus Studio, G VIllage in Bangkok.  Please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page for more.  Thank you.

Dexcon & IWA Thailand Partnership

Hello everyone.

The following statement came from SETUP Thailand's Facebook page.  Thank you to SETUP and to Dexcon in allowing the blogger to share the following info.

This statement is an official announcement on behalf of the International Wrestling Association, facilitated through the approval of representatives from Thailand, as well as the representatives from Japan, led by Haru Miyako and Hideo Okamoto. The purpose is to find a resolution regarding the case of Monomoth, who was originally scheduled to compete in the finals but had to forfeit due to being unfairly attacked by Shivam in the previous match. All management teams unanimously agree that a new qualifying match must be organized to ensure that the final competition remains a three-way match as originally planned.
.
For this reason, the association concluded that participants in the tournament should have some involvement with the IWA Japan in recent times. Dexcon from the Philippines is considered a highly suitable choice, as Dexcon continuously utilizes the kWo team and has been one of the teams supporting IWA Japan's initiatives behind the scenes over the past year.
.
Therefore, we officially announce that the wrestler participating in the special qualifying match will be wrestlers from Dexcon and this match will take place in SETUP EP.21 on March 22nd for sure.

Pro wrestling in 2025 in the Southeast Asia region is off to a great start.  Knowing Dexcon like this fan does, there, no doubt, will be a good representation from the Philippines.  Also, it will enhance the integrity of what SETUP Thailand and what IWA Thailand are sharing, not only in Thailand but throughout the region, Asia and worldwide.

The wrestling fans in Southeast Asia should be excited and buzzing in the upcoming weeks when a few more announcements will be made.  We will have it here on this blog!

SETUP Thailand: EP21 - Double Cross Update #2

Hello everyone.

SETUP Thailand's next show, EP21: Double Cross, will take place on Saturday, March 22nd.  The venue is The Circus Studio G Village in Bangkok beginning at 6:30pm.

A familiar tag team that has wrestled throughout Southeast Asia will wrestle in Thailand for the very first time.  Their name is Jack N' Cheese (BGJ and CBK) and are currently, the number one contenders for the Singapore Pro Wrestling Southeast Asia Tag Team Championship.  The belts are currently held by The Wonderboy and Miles Karu of Malaysia Pro Wrestling.

This will be a test for the team that works well as a team.  Though their opponents are yet to be named, Jack N' Cheese will be ready for anyone that comes their way.  Their recent defeat to the current title holders was controversial in the eyes of those who saw the match in Singapore.  A win in Thailand, if it's not a title match, will definitely secure them a rematch.

Tickets for the March show are available right now.  Please visit the SETUP Thailand Facebook page for more information.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand's Kru Pol

Hello everyone.

Next month, in March, SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling is doing a tournament as part of their show, EP:21 - Double Cross.  The tournament is called the Uprising Series.

According to the SETUP Facebook page, the series has six wrestlers divided into two blocks, an A and a B block.  Please check the Facebook page regarding how the tournament is going to be handled.

In the meantime, this blogger wants to promote the tournament and the wrestlers that are going to be involved. Since the blog gets new readers all the time, with Thailand being no exception, people may be unfamiliar with the participants.

Beginning with this post, this fan talk about one of the participants, Kru Pol.  Before doing this, I wanted to be sure that I get permission from the participant.  Also, before the post goes public, each participant will see the post for approval.  Several of the participants I don't know as of yet so please be patient if you don't see then right away.

First off, Kru Pol has been great as far as contributing to this blog.  He's mentioned several times that he reads posts whether it's SETUP or another promotion in Southeast Asia.

Kru Pol mentioned to this fan recently that he decided to begin training as a wrestler soon after attending Wrestlemania 39 in Hollywood in mid - 2023.

Moving forward, the first time I heard about Kru Pol before  the SETUP EP18 show, Clash Of The Champions.  Kru Pol, the teacher, and not yet wresting in shows, was part of a tag team group called St. John's Innocent College.  Since this post, the blogger learned that Kru Pol actually was in the corner of the tag team group back in July 2023.

St. John's Innocent College and the current IWA Japan/SETUP Thailand tag team champions, The Good Deal, had some good matches.  However, St. John's would encounter another team at the EP17 show in The Gym Bros.

What happened was in the show, there was a difference of opinion between members, Kevin Weng and Pondhub in the EP17 show, Bangkok Strong Style.  Kru Pol, in their corner, saw what happened.  As a result, there would be a match between the two in which Kru Pol, the teacher, would be a Special Referee.

What happened in that match was Pondhub would win in an unusual way (please see You Tube). It would eventually set up a Triple Threat Match in October at the EP19 Chaoparaya Voyage show.  This would be Kru Pol's first match, I believe.  He would come up victorious against Kevin Weng and Pondhub.  It's something that any wrestler in their debut would cherish.

Since that time, Kru Pol has been involved in three more matches with the 20 person SETUP Rumble, a two on one handicap, and a fatal four way match.  I've seen video since his first match and Kru Pol continues to improve each time.  This fan sees that with all the young SETUP wrestlers.

Kru Pol has other interests as well.  Though I didn't understand the words to the song that he sung around his birthday and children's day, the song meant volumes to everyone!  He can definitely sing.  And he's pretty good at being SaySci in videos too!  Whenever this fan hears his walkup song when entering the ring, it's gives this fan chills.

Whoever the opponent is for Kru Pol's first singles match, this blogger knows he will do well.  He's training and definitely he wants to improve and it's more than talk.  Actions speak louder than words and he has proven that.  Chatting with him on social media, he has the fire, just as everyone with SETUP.  He has a great future, no question about it.  The fans who pack The Circus Studio each time, I'm sure they feel the same way!

Here is the link to Kru Pol's first wrestling match last September.  Please enjoy everyone!

SETUP Special Show Canceled

Hello everyone.

As wrestling fans know, there are times that wrestlers are injured in a match, or for that matter in a practice session. Unfortunately, for SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling, that happened a few days ago.

Do to a very serious injury to Paksa, the special show that was scheduled for this coming Saturday, has been canceled.

Before sharing some other information about the SETUP March show, Paksa will be out of action due to a broken bone around his ankle, anywhere from eight to 10 months!  This blogger has known about it through fans and social media for several days but was very hesitant to share it here.  Now that it is out, the unfortunate news is posted here.  All the best to Paksa in the recovery!

The following information regarding the canceled Saturday event comes from the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Please read this.

We have already contacted those who have purchased tickets (as per the list that appears on Ticketmelon). If you have not been contacted by the team, please contact us via inbox to process a refund.

Right now, the next wrestling show, is still on schedule.  There will likely be some adjustments regarding the event on Saturday, March 22nd.  As of this post, tickets for the show are still available.  As always, please check SETUP's Facebook and other social media pages for more information.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand Major Announcment

Hello everyone!

A few hours ago, SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling made an announcement that is separate from the IWA Japan Tournament that began last month at the Bangkok Navigation show.  To this blogger's knowledge, the IWA Japan Tournament is still ongoing for the March show.

Here is the announcement that was posted a few hours ago on SETUP Thailand's Facebook page.

[OFFICIAL] SETUP ‘UPRISING SERIES’ 2025 : Group division tournament of young wrestlers, winning cups and the right to win the first place in Thai wrestling championship.
.
#SETUPTH As wrestling fans have seen, SETUP has many new wrestlers and many more students who are waiting to wrestle officially. We discussed with all stakeholders to the conclusion that we should organize a tournament to give them an opportunity to showcase their skills. And the prize for the winner should be big enough to be called the ‘moment of a lifetime opportunity’.
.
Because we believe that even the experience of a wrestler is important, but wrestling comes with the word 'anything can happen'. This tournament may be the 'beginning' of a new legend that will happen to the Thai wrestling world in the near future.
.
Let's get ready for this tournament fun !
.
 TOURNAMENT RULES
.
Wrestlers will be divided into 2 groups, namely Block A and Block B. All compete in a similar match.
Every match is scheduled for 1 round of 10 minutes. It is a single match wrestling with the standard wrestling rules.
Winner gets 2 points / Draw gets 1 point / Loser gets 0 points / Loser gets Falw or Count Out gets no points.
The group stage matches will take a total of 3 shows (1 pair per show from both groups).
The highest scorer of each block will fight in the final in June 2025)
The winner of the tournament will be eligible for SETUP Thailand Openweight Single Match at any time for 1 year. (Must be a wrestling match only, cannot Cash-In as the winner of SETUP Rumble).

SETUP Thailand: EP21 Double Cross Update #1

Hello everyone.

It's been a few days since mentioning SETUP Thailand's upcoming March show, EP21 - Double Cross.  However, it's good to mention news instead of soap opera material.

Since the mention of the show, the photos of The Statement - Andruew Tang and now, Alexis Lee have appeared on SETUP's social media pages.

Also, there was a clip yesterday with Ultramantis Black.  He was promoting the IWA Japan Title and the upcoming three way tournament to provide the number one challenger for his title.

And there is a mention on the latest status regarding popular wrestler, Monomoth.

So, as of this post, the wheels have begun to roll for what is going to be another great and historic show at The Circus Studio.  There is an Early Bird promotion still going on per this post.  For more information on all of what was mentioned, please visit the SETUP Thailand Facebook page.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand Update #1

Hello everyone!

SETUP Thailand tentatively will be having their next show on Wednesday, February 12th with a mat show (Motorway Dojo ?).  The next confirmed show is Saturday, March 22nd at The Circus Studio.  The March event is EP21: Thai Wrestling Battle of the Month of March. For more information on both shows, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.

In the meantime, SETUP Thailand has posted some full length matches from the last show in January on their You Tube page.  If you have a chance, please check them out.  This blogger has had a chance to view a couple of them and they were definitely good.

This fan has said the following message a few times already.  If you haven't been to a pro wrestling show in Southeast Asia, and in this case, Thailand, you are missing a lot!

Watching a wrestling show at The Circus Studio is a great experience.  It is very much like the Brawl Pit Bulusan in the Philippines, VAIB Studio D7 in Vietnam, the Grapplemax Studios in Singapore and/or anywhere that pro wrestling is happening right now.  The fans are passionate, energetic, knowledgeable and right on top of the action!

If you are reading this for the first time, or often, if you have a chance, please attend a show!  It's an experience you won't soon forget!  Thank you.
