ROR Experience: Fast 4 Ever Update #5

Hello everyone.

There has been a "change" of a tag team match for the ROR Experience show that is scheduled for Saturday, March 1st.  Again, with any pro wrestling show, the card is subject to change!

The personnel in the match will remain the same.  However, it will be the "veterans" of The Eurasian Dragon and Nyc taking on the "upstart" team of Varun Khanna and Erifie.  The match is labeled as the Millenials vs. Gen Z.

A couple of other things since the last ROR post.  One of Singapore's greats and part of Showtime Inc., Prabu will be the host for the show.  For those wondering what happened, Prabu is on the mend from an injury last year.  Definitely good news there.

Also, there will be a Stand Up Comedy feature with the one and only The Eurasian Dragon as part of the show.

Speaking of the show, it is Saturday night at the special time of 8pm at the Goldpine Industrial Center.  Few tickets remain as of this post.  Please visit the Ring Of Rebirth Facebook page for any further information.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand: EP21 - Double Cross Update #6

Hello everyone.

SETUP Thailand has announced a match for the IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Championship.  This is for the upcoming show on Saturday, March 22nd.  Venue once again is The Circus Studio G Village beginning at 6:30pm.

The champions, The Good Deal (Anont Alonzo and Mr. Suchart) will be defending the title at the show.  Fresh off a victory against Flame Drake and Blick Drewz, they will face a familiar team from Singapore Pro Wrestling.

Jack N' Cheese (BGJ and CBK) is no ordinary tag team in Southeast Asia.  Arguably the best tag team with SPW right now, they are the #1 contenders for the SPW Tag Team Championship.  They've been close to titles in other promotions such as VPW (Vietnam) Tag Team Titles last year.  Also, BGJ, along with The Eurasian Dragon, won the VPW Tag Team Titles about two years ago and held the title a short time.

The Good Deal has done very well since winning the coveted title in July 2024.  Since the belt was established in October 2023, The Good Deal is only the second team to hold the belts.  The streak as of this post is 215 days and counting.  The team has defended the titles successfully three times.

This match will definitely be one to watch.

For tickets and more information on the show, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  SETUP can be viewed on other social media platforms such as Instagram and You Tube.  Thank you.

SPW: Unchained Sold Out!

Hello everyone.

Next Friday's (March 7th) SPW Unchained show has been announced as SOLD OUT!

Also next week, this blogger will share the matches that are on the show.  In the meantime, please visit the SPW Facebook page if there are any developments regarding the show.  Thank you.

New Talents

Filipino Pro Wrestling's Mike Madrigal (center) with new stars, Joshua Ellevistah (left) and Ares Adreus (right).  Thank you to FPW and to Mike for permission on the photo.

Hello everyone.

It's always exciting when new talents appear on a pro wrestling stage in Southeast Asia.

Last Sunday, at FPWs Secret Show at the Secret Base in Quezon City, there was some history made.  Two wrestlers, Joshua Ellevistah and Ares Adreus made their wrestling debuts each in singles matches and performed well.

There's another wrestler soon on the verge by the name of Nashokur who this blogger recently interviewed.  Seeing this is a major and positive step for the promotion.

This continues to be a good trend and a good sign for pro wrestling in the region.  At the PUSO Wrestling show later in the evening, a masked wrestler by the name of White Shirt, made his debut in a streamed event against Jomar.

As mentioned, the region is seeing more and more aspirants become pro wrestlers.  We're seeing it with Grapplemax, Ring Of Rebirth, Malaysia Pro Wrestling, APAC Wrestling, TOP Dojo, SETUP and more.

This blogger tries and promotes whenever wrestling for new trainees is happening.  Also, it's up to the individual, whether something is or isn't on a social media page to check.

When I was at a wrestling show last summer in the Philippines with PUSO Wrestling's initial show, two fans approached me regarding wanting to become a wrestler.  I provided the names of two people and showed each one who they were.

Because one of them was wrestling and the other was promoting the show, I wasn't able to bring each one over to introduce them.  However, they were able to get names, they knew who they looked like and I personally showed them the PUSO Wrestling Facebook page on my phone.  Honestly, I don't know if they followed up on the conversation but communication is imperative in this matter.

So, though this post is a tribute to what FPW is doing, it is a tribute if and when a promotion can add more talent.  Yes, there will be times when an aspirant may not be ready, and other times, they are.

However, in this era of pro wrestling when the excitement of being in the squared circle is greater than ever, seeing wrestlers such as Ares and Joshua helps make the industry a little better place.  And that is what the promotion, wrestlers and the fans want to see!

SETUP Thailand's Gunn

Hello everyone.

Hope all of you are enjoying the Uprising Series feature on all six of SETUP Thailand's wrestlers in the upcoming tournament.

The final wrestler this blogger would like to mention is, last but certainly not least, Gunn.  The following information is factual and is what this blogger sees in, what is, an up and coming as well as an improved wrestler.

(NOTE - Please Facebook message me at SF Wayne regarding anything good or otherwise on this post).

Back in April 2020 when Covid-19 was affecting everyone, I started following SETUP Thailand and other Southeast Asia promotions on Facebook as well as other social media outlets.  It was a way of getting through a day.  Remember, much of the world was strongly advised not to go outside because of the virus.  So, to this wrestling fan, seeing videos and reading up what soon would be a blog would happen.

I first learned about Gunn on SETUP's Facebook page.  It was around the beginning of 2020.  His profile was shown on their page as a wrestling trainee / referee.  Over the years, knowing the promotion, his training that was led by wrestlers such as Paksa would be very beneficial.

His first match was what was termed an exhibition match against Paksa, definitely not a surprise.  It happened in August 2020 after a delay in the show due to Covid.

In November that year, Gunn had his best moment yet as a young wrestler.  A show called an Enter The Island Tournament took place on a boat that took place on the Chao Phraya River.  A full house of fans were a part of the action.

Gunn wrestled three times in the event.  Defeating the likes of Paksa, Jonathan Johnson and EK Baki is no small feat!  All three are well known and great wrestlers in the Thailand and Southeast Asia scene.  He would go on to win the tournament!

There would be some defeats and victories in the next year for Gunn.  This blogger is not certain what happened to him.  Likely, an absence from wrestling was due to the epidemic.

However, the next time we, and the fans, saw Gunn, was in a three way match for the SETUP 24/7 Championship in July 2023.

In November 2024, Gunn took part in the 20 person SETUP Rumble which was a very unique match with some of the different costumes that some of the wrestlers wore.  Early this year, in January, Gunn fared well in the Intergender Four Way match with Matcha, Kru Pol and Pondhub.

From the video I've seen of him, he has definitely good wrestling skills.  His drop kick on opponents is something that stands out.  He does have other attributes as well.

Being told by sources that he may be the most experienced going into the upcoming tournament, Gunn definitely feels he has something to prove.  Interestingly, Gunn will face two of the competition from January's match.  Also, there is Kevin Weng, Flame Drake and Blick Drewz.  Gunn is in the B Block along with Flame Drake and Pondhub.

All this blogger can say is that any one of the six that are in the two blocks are more than capable of winning the tournament.  I'm not one to select the winner.  However, for the fans who will pack The Circus Studio over the next four months, anything can, and will happen.  The tournament, along with other great matches, will provide for an exciting 2025 in Bangkok and at The Circus Studio.

Please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling page, as always, for tickets and information.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand's Pondhub

Hello everyone.

Hope all of you are enjoying the Uprising Series feature on all six of SETUP Thailand's wrestlers in the upcoming tournament.

The next wrestler this blogger would like to mention is Pondhub.  The following information is factual and is what this blogger sees in, what is, an up and coming as well as an improving wrestler.

(NOTE - Please Facebook message me at SF Wayne regarding anything good or otherwise on this post).

The first time this blogger saw video of Pondhub was in May 2023 at the EP13 show.  It was a match I've seen on You Tube several times and, believe me, it was impressive.  It was the first match on the show and it was a tag team match that featured four up and coming stars on the SETUP Thailand promotion.

Pondhub caught my eye right away.  His build when you see him in the ring is similar to this blogger.  However, he has great agility, moves around the ring quickly and is very athletic.

There were other things noticable.  Pondhub has a great character which the SETUP Thailand wrestling fans picked up on right away.  The interaction was tremenduous.  This came at a time when pro wrestling defeinitely needed it.  That was coming back from a pandemic that affected sports entertainment nearly worldwide.

Pondhub showed a lot of wrestling skill for someone that was very new to sports entertainment.  The assumption is that he likely started training once the pandemic was lifted. Anyway, Pondhub, along with his partner, Akaradeth (today known as Kevin Weng), won the match that day.

A couple of months later, Pondhub would gain some more experience in a tag team match against The Good Deal at the EP14 event.  The success led to Pondhub being part of the IWA Japan SETUP Tag Team Championship tournament in September.  He would wrestle twice that day, a great experience for any young wrestler.

Pondhub would be involved in several more matches as a tag team partner.  There would be a great rivalry with Pondhub and his partner, Kevin Weng facing the current IWA Tag Champions in The Good Deal.  In their last encounter, the team known as St. John's Innocent College would win in a Triple Threat match.

In May 2024, Pondhub would defeat his former partner, Kevin Weng in a singles match.  Both wrestlers actually did well that day.  There was a rift between the two from the previous show.  Some fans and bloggers like myself look at it, perhaps a little different as a singles wrestler seeing what they can do alone.  Pondhub won.

It would set up a Triple Threat match in the next show that had Pondhub, Kevin Weng and Kru Pol, the teacher.  Kru Pol would win in his debut.  What this fan noticed however is how all three participants have improved since their very beginnings in the promotion.

Pondhub has wrestled twice since this match.  He took part in the 20 Person Rumble in November in which he did quite well.

Then there was the four way intergender match at SETUP's last show in January.  From watching the match on You Tube, this may have been Pondhub's best showing.  Fatal Four matches are difficult to judge, at times, but there was a lot of good with him that came out of the encounter.

The brackets for the Uprising Series have been made and Pondhub is in the B bracket.  Personally, that should not make any difference to him or perhaps anyone in this tournament.  Some people, not myself, may feel that he's a darkhorse to win.  My gut feeling (only my opinion here) is that all six work hard in practice and the results have, and are showing.

Whenever you see improvement in each wrestler in this tournament, it's very rare when someone who doesn't work out at all has tons of ability.  Working out provides better results and that is what each one has.  Pondhub definitely is another wrestler to watch, and not just in the Uprising Series.  There is quite a future ahead for him!

SETUP Thailand EP21: Double Cross Update #5

Hello everyone.

SETUP Thailand's next show, EP21: Double Cross, will take place on Saturday, March 22nd.  The venue is The Circus Studio - G Village Bangkok beginning at 6:30pm.

The return match has been set for the SETUP Thailand Openweight Championship.  The champion, Andruew Tang from Singapore Pro Wrestling will face previous champion, Jonathan Johnson.

In the last encounter, as the fans know by now, Andruew Tang became the new champion with the assistance of SETUP's Shivam.  This led to SETUP management adding a stipulation to the match in fairness to both competitors.  Shivam is to be banned from ringside!

More on both competitors here.  Andruew Tang is regarded as the most decorated wrestler in Southeast Asia pro wrestling history.  He has won multiple titles in his career and has been the current SETUP titleholder for 87 days as of this post.

SETUP's Jonathan Johnson, the previous titleholder held the belt for 315 days and defended the belt multiple times in Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.  Southeast Asia wrestling fans have had an opportunity to see one of the top wrestlers in the region.

Tickets are still on sale for the upcoming show.  Please visit SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling's Facebook page for more information.  Thank you.

WrestleStorm 2 Update #6

Hello everyone.

Dexcon's Wrestlestorm 2 show on Sunday, March 16th has added another match to their show, and it will be an exciting and energetic one.

PUSO Wrestling and HSSL's Joya will go one on one against Super Friends' Patricia Ligaia in a singles Pinay match.

This fan and blogger has seen both ladies live and on video over the past year and a half.  Both women have made great strides in the women's division both in PUSO Wrestling and in Pinay wrestling throughout the Philippines.  This will definitely be one to watch for this show!

Tickets are still available for the show as of this post.  Again, the show takes place on Sunday, March 16th, Brawl Pit Bulusan beginning at 6pm.  Please visit the Dexcon - DXCN Facebook page for more information.  Thank you.

Interview #18 - Nashokur

Nashokur at an FPW workout.  Thank you to Nashokur for allowing us to share the photo.

Hello everyone!

The next interview is one that this blogger has looked forward to.  For the first time since doing this blog, the interview is with a trainee.  He is not just a normal trainee either.

The trainee going by the name of Nashokur is training to be a wrestler with Filipino Pro Wrestling in the Philippines.  At my first FPW show back in August 2023, Nashokur along with LegenDarius, and several other staff members, welcomed me to the show.  It was a very warm feeling for someone who was very new to the pro wrestling scene in Southeast Asia.  This blogger will never forget that day as I did with two other Philippine wrestling promotions and  shows.

The blogger has been following some of Nashokur's journey in his future as a professional wrestler on social media.  When approaching me and wanting to do this interview, you can say that this fan was, more than excited.  Without going further, here is the interview that took place recently.

Wayne:  When did you begin to follow wrestling?

Nashokur:  It was on 2011, Where CM Punk is at the top of the wrestling world. The first WWE event i've watched is Money In The Bank 2011 on TV while my brother is watching it and got into it immediately. I stopped watching time to time due to other things, But pro wrestling is still one of my favorite things that keeps me engaged~

Wayne:  When did you actually start training with FPW?

Nashokur:  On February 4, 2023, Before FPW Astig began. From the FPW Academy Batch 1#, Where i'm with some already graduated FPW wrestlers right now, Which are Proximo, Roxy Reeves and LegenDarius.

Wayne:  Knowing that the training is going well, what has been the easiest and hardest part of your workouts?

Nashokur:  The first days joining FPW Academy was tough and tiring. But eventually if you consistenly training in FPW and outside FPW, You'll get used to it and easier to learn things in the ring. Right now, The hardest thing to work on is being confident in the ring by shouting out something in your mind to the crowd, Basically a character. Probably one of the reasons that i'm not ready being out there yet, Which is totally fine, But that time will come soon~.

Wayne:  What are your thoughts of Mike (Madrigal), Ralph (Imabayashi) and those training you?

Nashokur:  The coaches, the wrestlers and the newer trainees are very welcoming and friendly as you met them~. Mike Madrigal is the first wrestler that i'm a fan with in PWR days on 2017, Knowing him and training with him is such a huge honoured to have. I wasn't a fan of Ralph Imabayashi the first time i saw him in PWR, But eventually i have a huge respect for him, He was the main coach in the Academy before Mike. I've learned a lot from them all those 2 years being in FPW, Not just being in the pro wrestling industry but also outside things that effect your daily life for the better. All of them in FPW are like my best friends now~

Wayne:  Your thoughts on FPW and its future.

Nashokur:  The future for FPW will get even more brighter, By seeing or watched the latest FPW's 1st Secret Show event recently by the new announcer, The new referee, The graduated wrestlers and planning for FPW to be bigger than before will be amazing!. And me being part of it, No matter what roles i'm in, I'm always honoured, grateful and a fun ride in that journey and hope everyone in FPW don't quit and make our dreams come true, And also the fans are very supporting consistenly even with or without a show for a few months is such a blessing to have, Especially in the Philippines which is awesome!~

Nashokur, thank you so much for doing this.  All the best as your training continues.  Hopefully, on this fan's next visit to the Philippines, we'll get to see you in a match at an FPW Astig show.

A New Chapter Underway

Photo courtesy of TOP Dojo and You Tube.

Hello everyone.

Doing this blog for some time now, every promotion on this blog has a feel good story.  Over time, this blogger will share one with each promotion.  Certainly of late, the blog has featured more with wrestlers in promotions covered.  Of course, there will be shows to continue to cover as well as the results.

Last night, in some spare time, this blogger sat down and watched a couple of TOP Dojo matches in full.  The promotion is out of Thailand.  In the short time knowing the group, mostly everyone on the group has been supportive of what is posted here.  Also, watching a few matches on You Tube has provided a story of what to write.

This blogger has watched every wrestler that is currently on the roster.  Seeing what P-Nutz and Golem Thai, the backbone of the promotion provide, this fan needs to write even more material.  This is for the fans in Thailand as well as throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.

The two matches this fan watched were Golem Thai vs. Flame Drake and P-Nutz vs. Prince Benny.  The two matches had a little bit different story line from one another.  Yet, the two matches both had a lot of emotion, both during, and after, the conclusion.

Fans who read the blog often will know the results of the two matches.  However, this fan always recognizes that there are fans who are still new to the SEA wrestling scene and want to see this for themselves.

So, looking ahead to TOP Dojo, and for that matter, any promotion, knowledge helps all of the fans in preparation.  Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and You Tube are huge.  Most, if not all of the countries covered, have podcasts now.  There are wrestling groups that share information.

Some fans feel, or have felt, that the two matches mentioned perhaps "Finished The Story!"  This fan would not disagree with you there.

However, some fans may feel that a new chapter is beginning, not only in TOP Dojo, but numerous promotions that are covered here.  Think of a half glass of water that is sitting on a table.  Is the glass half full or half empty?  Neither answer is a wrong one; it is how it is interpreted.

One thing that we can agree on is that 2025 has off to a busy start.  This blogger doesn't remember it being this busy one year ago.  Something right is happening.  Hopefully pro wrestling fans whether in Southeast Asia, Norway, Australia, Europe, North and South America and Africa, are seeing an industry booming!  Hopefully, we are all enjoying this!

SETUP Thailand's Blick Drewz

Hello everyone.

The next SETUP Thailand wrestling show is on Saturday, March 22nd with the event, EP21 Double Cross.  Part of the event will feature a series called the Uprising Series.

For those that haven't been following, but reading for the first time, SETUP has selected six wrestlers who will take part in the tournament as you can see on the top of the post.  This blogger has done feature stories on Kru Pol, Kevin Weng and Flame Drake.  The next feature will be someone who recently returned to pro wrestling here in Thailand.  His name is Blick Drewz.

The first time hearing about Blick Drewz was an article by Under The Ropes called Thailand's Pro Wrestlers in 2019.  There was mention of a tag team that wrestled for Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling (which today is ChocoPro).  The team consisted of Monomoth and Blick Drewz.  Eventually, the two would separate when two promotions, SETUP Thailand and TOP Dojo would begin separate promotions in the country.

In February 2020, Blick Drewz would be one of eight wrestlers that would take part in the promotion's first show, Reborn at the Motorway Dojo.  He would continue during the year.  He would finish 2020 winning in a tag team match in December.  It would be over a year before the promotion put on another show.  The covid-19 epidemic was the reason.

Likely because of the uncertainty, Blick would step away from the ring.  It happened to a few wrestlers worldwide so the retirement was not uncommon.

Because of the passion, the increased number of wrestling fans in Thailand, and missing the excitement and competition, Blick eventually returned to the squared circle.

In November's show, EP20 - Year End Climax, he made his return to the ring in a 20 person SETUP Rumble.  The fans at The Circus Studio cheered wildly because they had no idea that he was returning to action.  Up until that time, not everyone was named to take part in the event.

Since that time, Blick Drewz had wrestled in another SETUP show, Bangkok Navigation as a part of a tag team with someone who he was familiar with back in 2020, Flame Drake.

As of this post, both Blick Drewz and Flame Drake along with Kru Pol, Kevin Weng, Pondhub and Gunn will take part in the Uprising Series that begins on Saturday, March 22.  Blick does have some experience going back to 2019 and despite the layoff, he will be certain to meet the challenge of the other competitors in the tournament.  It's great to see any wrestler return, especially one who loves in-ring competition!  Fans, and all of us in the pro wrestling scene, especially in Thailand, are excited about his return to action.

FPW Secret Show Success!

Hello everyone.

Sunday's Filipino Pro Wrestling's show, Secret Show At The Secret Place was, undoubtedly, a huge success!  A sellout crowd of over 100 fans filled the 2F Kowloon House in Quezon City.  They were loud, enthusiastic and definitely were ready for the event!

Honestly, I don't know the results, but do know several things.

LegenDarius The Great did make his singles debut against  and Cali Nueva.  He cut a promo to the world of pro wrestling knows that he was in the main event and that SIGMA will be around for years to come!

Ralph Imabayashi wrestled in what is the 10th anniversary of his first wrestling match in the Philippines.  Congratulations Ralph on the milestone!

Giga Herrera, a Filipino-American wrestler was in a match against the Gym Bro, Thiago.  Giga wrestles for a promotion east of this blogger in California known as Total Wrestling Federation.  Giga, without getting into trouble here, was a very busy person this past weekend!  Thank you Giga on the visit.  The FPW fans, I'm sure, appreciated the visit and you taking part in the show!

Also, it is announced on FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling of the following statement.

FPW President, Red Ollero will settle the score on who will be the UNDISPUTED #1 contender to the FPW Championship!

So, for more on the upcoming FPW Astig show on Sunday, March 23rd show at Baked Studios, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  The show will begin at 2pm at the Baked Studios in Makati City.  Thank you.

SETUP Thailand: EP21 - Double Cross Update #4

Hello everyone.

A "major" match has just been added for SETUP Thailand's show, EP21; Double Cross.  The event will take place at The Circus Studio, G Village, Bangkok on Saturday, March 22nd beginning at 6:30pm.

SETUP Thailand's Matcha, arguably the top female wrestler in Thailand, will face SPW's Alexis Lee in one terrific match!  The winner of the 20 minute time limit battle will get a future shot at the SETUP All Asia Women's Championship.  The title is currently held by Pom Harajuku.

Both women have held titles in their respective countries.  Matcha was the first winner of the SETUP All Asia Women's belt and held the title for nearly a year (315 days).  She lost to the current champion but is stepping up her game for another opportunity at this title sometime in the near future.

Alexis Lee is one amazing woman!  In her career, she has won four different titles and is currently the CWE Vixen's Champion!  She has held this title for 2445 days as of this post and has held it proudly against numerous opponents. Her title won't be on the line in this match.

This match is definitely main event material.  The two wrestlers have faced each other one other time to my knowledge.  It happened back in June 2022 when Matcha won at SETUP's EP6 show.  At the time, both promotions, along with the rest of pro wrestling worldwide, were recovering from the Covid-19 epidemic.  The statement here is not to make excuses, but factual.  The situation for both wrestlers, and promotions, is a better one today!

For more on the SETUP Thailand EP21: Double Cross show, please visit the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Facebook page for ticket information.  Thank you.

WrestleStorm 2 Update #5

Hello everyone.

There has been an International Dream Match added to the Dexcon WrestleStorm 2 show.  The event will take place on Sunday, March 16th beginning at 6pm at the Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City, Philippines.

Dr. Gore, who wrestles with the promotion, Singapore Pro Wrestling, is now becoming a familiar face at Dexcon shows, and with the Pinoy wrestling fans.  He will be returning to the Philippines after his last visit this past October.  He and Dexcon were a major part of a two day show, Graveyard Shift and Jam Of The Joshis.

His opponent will be the Pusong Pinoy Wrestling Champion, Main Maxx.  This match will be huge as this is Main Maxx's first defense of the PUSO Wrestling title that he won last November.  Since the formation of the promotion last summer, Main Maxx has been undefeated in singles competition.  To this blogger's knowledge, this is the first time Main Maxx and Dr. Gore have faced one another.

The blogger saw the following on the Dexcon - DXCN Facebook page and will share this.  Just saying....

Disclaimer: The title match was approved by Puso Commissioner Sonny Go, with permission from everyone except Match Maker Linus.

Tickets are still available as of this post.  There is the show on Sunday, as well as, the Meet And Greet at Onyang's Cafe the previous day, Saturday.  Please visit the Dexcon - DXCN Facebook page for more information.  Thank you.
